Just like when you type a ch number into the V box and you can talk to your squad...there could be a range box, and a switch for on or off. If its on you have it just like it is now....only hearing those guys who are in your immediate area. NOT THE WHOLE COUNTRY. If its off...its pure bliss...and the only voice you hear is from a squaddie or a "check 6" from someone.
Not to be difficult, but what would be the point of range ch then? I only flew a couple hours last night. Other than me saying hi to someone and them saying hi back, I heard nothing but situation reports, tactical info, and attack coordination the entire time I was on.
I only use the chk6 key when the recipiant has a goofy name that would be dead by the time I figure out how to get their attention on vox. What use is a local channel if you have no idea whether people will recieve transmissions or not?
95% of what I hear on range is exactly what range should be used for. The other 5% is chit-chat, an annoying kid announcing his every action, and the occational whine about not chk6ing. The 5% for whatever reason doesnt compell me to go whine about changing it so that its practically useless for everyone else. What good is it if the person your trying to give information to cant hear you?
