Lost zoom capability
« on: June 15, 2005, 07:51:40 AM »
I lost zoom capability yesterday and can`t get it back.
I had it mapped to Z key. I have tryed remapping it to other keys and also to stick buttons. It`s a no go.
Any ideas/suggestions?

I also posted this in techincal. I wasn`t sure where to go with it. :)

Are you sure you've lost it?

a couple of times I've had zoom set to exactly the same as normal; so that the Z key _appears_ not to work.....

try hitting Z; then try to zoom; then hit Z again and try to zoom again; that'll check you haven't made the same mistake I did.

Just as a matter of curiousity, can you left click on the map and drag it? (not the whole clipboard, just the map part).

Tried hitting the U key and then zoom?

I had to go check on that. Wasn`t sure, but yes I can drag the map.
The U key didn`t do anything for me.
Insert/delete works OK, but  the bracket keys won`t work either because of no zoom .
 I`m lost here.

Support must really be tied up. I have had an e-mail in since yesterday with no reply regarding this.

As silly as this might sound....

Sometimes the zoom gets mixed up as in backwards. If you happended to change the viewable distance while not zoomed you sometimes get the idea you are zoomed when, you're not.

Try this...

Hit F1 and use arrow keys to zoom view all way out.
Now hit your zoom key and see what happens.
If nothing hit zoom again and try zooming.

Hope this helps

Well, it was worth a shot, but no go.
I think it may be time for the old uninstall/reinstall routine. DOH!

Well, if you ever get the problem figured out lemme know how to fix it.

I've always had that problem. And a re-install was still a 50/50 chance of it actually working. I'm not sure what causes it, but I get the same problems you do. And have tried all the remedies. No joy.

Ouch! You sure? If it goes opposite on you I swear you'll think its broke. Once you figured out which setting is zoom in and which is out...it begins working again.

Hit Z key zoom in and out using [ and ] keys....if nothing happens
Hit Z key again and zoom in and out using [ and ]
keys.
Once it begins to zoom for you then you'll know which is the "Z" activate zoom key.

If it's already zoomed all the way in and won't move hit F1 and use the arrow keys to move view all the way forward. Then repeat the Z key steps above and see if you get it working...

Naw, don`t work.
I uninstalled/reinstalled and it still won`t work. Six frigging hours of dialup hell.
This just may be my sign to move on down the road.

What about the "default zoom" command (shift-z by default i think)? I didn't see anyone mentioning that yet.
