what's your favorite WWII era swing / big band song?

In the Mood.

My wife and I danced to it at our wedding; she choreographed a routine and taught my rhythmless butt how to do all kinds of tricks. We actually dressed up in WWII Army Air Corps uniforms and went to the Glen Miller Festival in Fort Morgan Colorado. My oldest daughter was one at the time and was cutting a rug with the old folks on the dance floor. She was the only little kid there and the leader of the New Glen Miller Band actually walked up to her and greeted her.

this may be concited or something....

but Glenn Miller is where's it's at daddy-o

all others do seem to pale in comparison. it's not that Benny Goodman for example is bad it's just that Glenn Miller is that good.

It would be hard for me to name a single favorite. In the Mood, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, Tuxedo Junction, Pennsylvania 6-5000, the list goes on and on.

Benny Goodman, The Andrews Sisters, Glenn Miller, Bob Wills. I'm a fan of them all.

Probably too new, but the Brian Setzer Orchestra does some pretty good stuff.

if you like the new stuff, i'd say big bad voodoo daddy is the best there is. especially their first album.

the newest really throws back to the "swing" movement of the first album, where the second album is "different" but still great
