Hey gents!

Again let me thank you for your kind offers. I accept on behalf of my Dad.

He's pretty special to me and if you followed the story of the mid-air during the run against the docked Japanese destroyer, you know he never really quite got over it or got past it.

I'm going to bid the kit on Ebay at least up to the original list of $50.... unless you guys think that's crazy. I may go higher anyway. This is too good an opportunity.

I'm glad we've got both Shane and EddieK to back that up.

Nuke, I'm not going to press for it. I now you're up to your neck in the new biz, so it'll get done when it gets done.

As a side note, my Dad got to take his PT-26 up yesterday. Mom says it takes 10 years off him for days afterwards. He's still a great stick.

He has a -26 in Canadian colors. Dad is a devout Catholic. Right about the time Mom worried about him going out solo and was ready to put her foot down, a Canadian Priest who was an ex-mechanic for the Canadian Air Force that has a pilot's license moves into Lincoln.

You have to wonder if these things are coincidence. How many signs are in there? Canadian plane, Canadian Catholic priest, warbird mechanic/safety pilot.... I don't know who else my Mom would have trusted to go out with him if not this guy!

The priest is a great guy, keeps his homeland's history in tip-top shape and he and dad are like peas and carrots.

Now this.... what a GREAT week.

Also, if there are any Hobby Lobby in your area, check them out - they *may* have some in stock - the AM B-25b/c, that is - that's where I picked mine up last winter.

squadron used to (still?) have a retail shop out in wheaton, MD called eagle squadron or something.

Squadron has a very good rep for online purchases - only offer what they have in stock. while prices can be a tad more expensive than other online shops, they're very good with handling orders and shipping.

check the edited info to my previous post. sprue bros has one left in stock..

also hobby lobby has infrequent 1/2 or 40% off plastic kit sales, but the selection for aircraft is usually so-so - they're more into cars it seems, but they do offer occasional gems from tamiya and AM.

I just got outbid on E-bay. Now it's just as cheap from Sprue.

I can't seem to get it into the cart at Sprue. Will call them in the AM.

Hang, that's a beauty. Does anyone custom build those? The electric one might be a great gift.

You'd cry if I told yah how much the big boy goes for custom built... between 101 & 116" span, weights about 40 pounds thunderin down the runway... ballpark about Six Grand and 300 hours build time.

The lil electric builds up as nice BIG display model.. fly's pretty good fer a gay electric. (there's video on the site) I guess all up it could be done fer about six hundred and 20 hours build/setup time.

Either can be 'scaled out' very, very nicely.

Both require skilled piloting.. and I hate to say it to full scale pilots;

buddy yah ain't got a snowball's chance in a BBQ of gettin it down in one piece with out a whole buncha stick time in R/C first... especially the big boy. Not to worry tho.. there's plenty of R/C flight simulators for the PC... getcha good enuff to fly the electric in a biiiig grass (soft) field.

But, costs be damned, its sooooooooooooo much fun flying big scale warbirds... I getta huge kick outta it. Finishing up my first 'stringbag' now.. a SE5a, 80" and 20 lbs. LOL.. canvas overcast.

Toad I'm still willing to set your dad up with a diecast 25. My
only trouble so far has been that they have all been the sister
squadron's birds so far.

I'm blanking on whether your Dad was in the 500th BS or
501st BS. If you think he'd like one, let me know.

With another quick check with Diecastairplane.com they have
C models from the 499th and 500th and a D model from the 499th
in 1/48 scale.

It's fully assembled, glassed, panel lined, riveted, hatched, painted, weathered. Retracts engines are in. We are working on the gear door sequencing ... for the last year, the restoration of the Torino took our mind away from the project for now. It has yet to fly, no turrets/cockpit done so far. I was very mildly involved in the building, panel lining/ rivetting/painting/weathering/markings is more my cup of tea.

My boss owns it, it's the first he bought as a test bed, he has 2 other kits in the box waiting.
