this thread reminded me that I needed oil.   I don't need help buying oil so I went to Wall Mart and picked up a 5 quart jug of mobil one for about 50% off what the mom and pop store was gonna scalp me for and...

Wall mart is paying there employees more than the Napa store pays or the Kragen.

Mobil one synthetic motor oil is a buck or two a quart less at Wall mart than Napa and comes in 5 quart jugs.   I buy it at wall mart.

Wall mart moving in made all the mom and pop stores around here act more like what you are talking about...

Where once they were overpriced and surly... they are now polite and reasonable.

Im not saying I dont buy things from the mega stores, and there are times when I can find something at lowes or homo depot that I either cant just get locally or would have to travel way out of my way to get them.
I even go to Wallmart and Target from time to time usually for the same reasons.
but if Its just as easy for me to go Mom & pop I'd prefer to do that.

Oil? LOL dont do my own oil changes anymore.  Havent for years.
The stuff is just too hard to get rid of around here. On the very rare occasion I do need oil I'll just pick up a quart just about anyplace but a gas station.

Just curious why you would care what a company pays its employees so long as you can get what you want?

See now I think that some things once they have been around for a  certain length of time  Like say..100 years should be public domain. And that nobody should be allowed to hold sole copyright rights on it.

In that case you'll have to wait until 2030 for the 75 year copyright on happy birthday to expire. Have fun holding your breath.

Really? I thought it was alot older then that.

Either way. copyrights should expire after a set time and after such time should be public domain. And non copyrightable.

Good thing they didnt have copyrights back in the cave man days.

dred... I don't care what they pay the employees except for the tax base and opportunity for the kids to get work.   I brought that up because everyone seems to think the big stores are paying the least.

Of interest, Walmart employees make wages that put them under the poverty line, a cunning fiscal move that saves them not only the wages, but also relieves them of any obligation they might have to provide health care (considering as how their employees now qualify for state funded medical welfare).

Good business for them, not such a great situation for the taxpayer.
