Stock 2005 Mustang GT
0-60 = 5.2
0-100 = 13.2
1/4 mile = 13.8@104
60-0 = 116ft

Stock SRT-4
0-60 = 5.6
0-100 = 14.1
1/4 mile = 14.4@ 93
60-0 = 120 feet

Dodge sqeaked some amazing performance out of their little neon I'll readilly agree, but from the factory that thing is about as tweaked as it can get without adding forced induction. There's a ton of room on the stock GT for improvement. I know guys in the local club who are getting 25 additional hp at the wheels with a tune and a CAI. Add a full exhaust to that and they are getting close to 50rwhp over stock.  I was actually suprised to see the Mustang beat the SRT-4 in braking considering how much heavier it is and all.

Besides, however tweaked the SRT-4 is it is still just a Neon...LOL. It will always be a 4-door econobox. I thought you'd mention the WRX instead, it CAN beat the '05-GT 0-40mph beacuse the 4X4 gets some awesome launches, although it loses every other performance test other than handling on wet pavement.

Nice try though.

I think those SRT-4 numbers might be from the original SRT-4, not the improved one they are selling now.
Here's the latest numbers from Car and Driver.

Zero to 60 mph: 5.3 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 13.4 sec
Zero to 130 mph: 24.8 sec
Street start, 5-60 mph: 5.7 sec
Standing 1/4-mile: 13.9 sec @ 103 mph
Top speed (drag limited): 153 mph
Braking, 70-0 mph: 169 ft
Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad: 0.86 g
EPA fuel economy, city driving: 22 mpg
C/D-observed fuel economy: 17 mpg

Zero to 60 mph: 5.2 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 13.2 sec
Zero to 130 mph: 26.1 sec
Street start, 5-60 mph: 5.9 sec
Standing 1/4-mile: 13.8 sec @ 102 mph
Top speed (governor limited): 149 mph
Braking, 70-0 mph: 183 ft
Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad: 0.87 g
EPA fuel economy, city driving: 17 mpg
C/D-observed fuel economy: 16 mpg

Which one is which?  :)
Driver's race IMHO.

WRX doesn't have the power of either car, but it hooks up better at low speeds, and has a really nice suspension and brakes.  I wouldn't change my buying decision except to save my money for an STi.  :)

Funky, could't have said it any better...  One miss-shift, or a smokey burn out could really screw the pooch.

That's why I wish I had STi, change it from FWD to AWD to RWD by turning a knob.

I got it wrong, it can only vary F/R balance from 50/50 to 30/70.  It's called DCCD.

"Anyone have a 2005 Mustang? "

No but I did get to see one break down just today pulling out of a McDonalds parking lot.

It just shut off and wouldnt start..

I know this cause I got to push it back into the parking lot so I could get by.

Nice looking car though

My firebird has done that to me twice in 6 years... just shut off and wouldn't start.  It was due to the security system.  It goofed on reading the chip in the key and disabled the starter for 15 min.  Nice feature, not sure if it would deter a modern thief but it's probably effective against a screwdriver jammed into the ignition.
Everyone I know, goes away, in the end.
