err alittle bit more info in your post will help

theres plenty of 1mb cache 64bit chips out there.

64bit wont make a blind bit of difference right now.
1mb helps quiet alot though.

there are?

im looking for the AMD 64 bit system with 1mb l2 cache for gaming.

I thought they came out later this year.

Im thinking of upgrading my old athlon 1ghz with 2100 ddr ram to a new amd 64 bit rig...

i dont know much about this stuff so i was wondering if the 1mb cache makes that big of a difference. and if so, which ones would be coming out (or are out in the market now) and which motherboards/ram would go along with it?

doesnt really make a "big" difference, but it does make a difference.....lol if that makes sence.

Theres a 3700 and a 4000 that have 1mb. Just make sure its a  San Diego core.

There are also dual cores now that have 1mb (PER core, so 2mb total)

Thanks whels.

Im really out of touch with computer stuff nowadays.

Ive searched the monarch website and tried to build a system (im not building my own again.. too much hassle and id probably end up with a PC that whines like a jet engine which is what i have now).

Time to ask you: Build Tac/OIO his new computer.

dual cores better for gaming? put 'em in. im in Orlando so like you, im in FLA and i think the cooling is important. damn heat.

bear in mind im replacing ALL my box.

i need 256mb vid card,  a good sound card (my old sblive i really want to get rid off. I have good digital speakers though), no monitor...

need a new hard drive (size really not important, i only keep my games and emails and the occasional movie in it, even an 80gb HDD is good for me)

What would you build for me from that site? :)

Myself,

And I am not quite sure if I will do this now... but I would get:

AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego 939 socket 1MB L2 cache..$325

Abit AN8 motherboard.................. ......$120

Antec Performance TX1088AMG case
w/480W power supply................$150

Maxtor 200GB 6B200MO Hard Drive...$102

Gigabyte 6800GT GV-NX68T256D-B
video card w/256MB ram....................$350

Corsair DDR2 533 (PC2 4200) Ram
1GB.......................... ...........................$89

Gigabyte GH-PCU21-VG 2 CPU fan......$43

Which brings up a grand total of $1179 less the keyboard, speakers, sound card (if you don't use onboard sound) and a floppy drive (gotta have a floppy drive).  All these prices and components are from Newegg.com.

Regards,

Malta

Hi OIO,

this is a system from Monarch. ihavent bought systems from them but have bought parts. they seem to be a good company.

this is they system i would get right now if i were to buy.
i wasnt sure what all u needed so i put everything ud need
for a complete box xcept  windows software. no monitor or speakers.

u might wana go with different video card. i really like my BFG. they only had  the 6600 and 7800, seems they discontinued the 6800 ultra, so they dont have many instock and the 7800 is only
alittle more. but if total price too high we can always mix n change to bring it down.

i use audigy 2 zs for sounds.  i would go with the dual core X2 CPUs they as fast as single core and if u have a programs that can run dual, u will benifit greatly.

Cooling, case fans are cheap and easy, but i run water, cools better but slightly more Complicated.  if u keep the computer room
AC fairly good air cool is no problem  just noisey.

Yes nice indeed. 1k more than what i was expecting though hehe. But you did give me a good idea as to the mobo/memory i should look for, that was really what had me confused to heck.

How's this?

SATA Cables FLT-6000-18 18" cable
Maxtor (6Y120M0) 120 GB SATA 7200 RPM          $88.00  $88.00
Warranty: 800011 - Manufacturer Direct Warranty from MFG
Creative Audigy 2 ZS 24BIT Advanced HD Sound (Retail Box)
LG GDR8162B 16X DVD-ROM (OEM)          $39.00  $39.00

Pre-Tested and Setup AMD Athlon 64/FX (939) Barebones System

Case: 100146 - NO PS - Antec Plusview 1000AMG Case w/Cle

Power Supply: 100176 - PS 450W - OCZ OCZ45012U ModStream ATX 2.0

Case Fan: 100887 - 120mm - Antec 120mm SmartCool Case Fan

Motherboard: 110704 - Asus A8N-SLI Premium nForce4 SLI Audio/GB

Processor: 120241 - AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Dual-Core 1MB Per

Heatsink Fan: 130122 - AMD Certified Opteron/64/FX Heatsink
Thermal Grease: 800018 - Shin-Etsu G675 Thermal Grease (Cools CPU

Memory: 140210 - DDR (400) 3200 - 2 GB (2 pcs 1GB) Corsair      $244.00  $244.00
      2nd Memory: None
      Round Cables: None

Order Total:  $1,532.00

And i think ill get the video card somewhere else. 400+ bucks for a 256mb vid card with lots of fancy crap is not what im looking for. I just play games I dont do video editing or dvi or tv-out or any of that shtuff.
