Minicon - Munich, Germany - anyone interested?

I was in Germany last year and the opportunity to sample some, well ok a lot,  of the beers....loved all the different Pils and dark beers.   Great beers and great food.......

This September I am heading to Scotland and then touring south to London...heard tell they have some drinkable beverages there as well...:D

I wouldn't mind going and having a few Budweisers or some Coors light with you guys. :D

I can't really go, but it sounds like a lot of fun.

Actually yes, that's probably my favourite although Erdinger is pretty good too! :)  It's so easy to drink yet it's 5.5% or somewhere around there!

My knowledge of German is next to nothing, but I do believe there are two types of German beer with a similar name. There's Weissbier, that you mentioned, which I believe means "white beer". But then there's weitzbier (spelling probably incorrect) which means "wheat beer". That's the cloudy stuff. I prefer to drink the clear beers.

I might look into this.  Swooooooop, right down the autobahn.  I'm there.

Beetle, both are the same. Weizenbier or Weißbier, same beer made from wheat.  Word change over the years.

Weißbier is the wheat stuff.  It comes in the normal light colour beer or the dark 'dunkles' type, which is what I prefer.  Have a look at this.

Weißbier & dunkles Weißbier

They also sell 'helles' which is pretty much the typical lager, but without the chemicals.

Just got a sample airfare quote from BA for the Oct. 13-17 period. Heathrow to Munich. The roundtrip fare came to £55 but there was £49 in taxes and fuel surcharges making the ticket price £104. Seems OK, but that fuel surcharge could go much higher.

That sounds about right for British Airways.

Here's some other prices:

Bristol to Munich (via Amsterdam) = £159  (KLM) *between 3.5 - 5hrs!

Birmingham to Munich (via Milan) = £132  (Alitalia) *4hr 25mins!

Gatwick to Munich = £88  (BA) 1hr 55mins

Manchester to Munich (via Milan) = £132 (Alitalia) *4h 45mins!

Stanstead to Munich = £45  (Easyjet)  1hr 50mins

Thanks Nexx, but those indirect flights from distant airports involve a lot of arsing about, lost time and taxi expense, whereas I live 30 mins from Heathrow and could get a lift there from a friend. Non-stop flight, 1h-45m. I can accommodate anyone overnight who wants to do the trip from England.

Aye, I put the other routes down because I know that Swoop would be interested in flying from Bristol or Birmingham.  The others are just for info if anyone from those locations are interested.

Hija Nexx...

Even though we moved to Hannover now, sounds like a good idea!

Meet up for a 'test run' on the weekend? (ill be back in Munich for a few days) Just shoot a mail or a SMS...

Funny that.  There's a bar in Angel (Islington, London) I found a month ago that sells it.  Bit pricey mind you, but definately worth it. Managed to Gizit one of their glasses ;)
