I need some help.
« on: June 29, 2005, 11:02:16 AM »
I just downloaded the game but on I try to play it and the screen comes up for selecting a video card and things I don’t have any options for the video resolution.

I’m thinking it my card may not be compatible but I don’t know its worked for every thing else so far.
Its listed as a SiS 650_651_740

I really don’t know anything about this stuff so I would be thankful for any help.

click on start in windows.

choose "run"

dxdiag

after it is all loaded, there will be a "save results" or similar.

save it to the desktop. open the text file, and copy the first few main parts to here.

or email the file to support@hitechcreations.com with you question
I don't know what to put here yet.

This is your problem.  U need a video card that supports Directx 9.0

yes, that is my guess also.

the video card seems sub-par.

if you are doing any upgrading, id say look into more memory also.
I don't know what to put here yet.

Working for everything else is not an indicator that it will work for a 3D game.
As MwDogg suggests you need a video card that supports Direct3D 9.  It looks like you are using and old version of direct 3D, go to Mikeysoft and download ver. 90b and try that, but you probably should spend a few bux on a 3D video card.

I missed that line, what I noticed was this one...
 DxDiag Version: 5.03.0001.0904 32bit Unicode
I forgot 90c was the most recent version.
But I do think a decent ATI or NVidia card is in order :)

So what I need is a new video card?

I don’t know the 1st thing about buying one.
What should I look for?

Also can I use a new one with the one I have or do I need to find one that does every thing this one does also and replace this one?

and where can I find them?

thanks.

The SIS 650 card will work. I am able to run AH on my laptop with this video card.

Your RAM is a little low however, and if you can increase it it will help.

When I get access to my laptop I will get the driver you need to run AH and post it here.

Also, see if you have an option to boost your video memory from 32 MB to 64MB. My laptop had this option. Basically you are stealing from your system ram to boost the ram available for the video card.  (IIRC you can access this in safe mode).

Set your resolution to 800 X 600 and 128 MB. Turn detail and graphic sliders in game all the way to the right (performance).

You will have poor framerates near the deck or in furballs etc. but it will be marginally playable. Not great, but playable.

If this is a laptop you have, this may be all you can do. If it is a desk top, you would be better off increasing your RAM and getting a better video card.

cheers,
RTR

Options to change the amount of system RAM assigned for video use will be in the BIOS, not in Windows.  Thus Safe Mode wouldnt make any difference.

What i read is that you need a new driver for the video card.
Wont be stellar good on the card but might work with a up to date driver.

Also i miss the part of the DxDiag where it lists your motherboard.

Check on the documentation for your board what kind of AGP it has. Then you need to select an AGP graphics card that is supported. Best have the vendor assure you that it works on the board.

Also make sure the card is not to hot, youll only run into trouble with powersupply. Guess youll be in the 80 to 180 dollar range for a card, when its new.
