Hey all
I jumped on the BBS at work here and saw something that got my goat.
I don’t want to point fingers or start a fight but if everyone else is gonna have a whine then hell so am I.
Now I might sound a bit harsh here but take into account that I have been up for the last 28 hours and spent 16 of those at work and will be here at work for another 9 hours.
Start of my whine long (go grab a beer or a wench or both)
Ok so I am new here, only been flying for what, 5 months.
But the other day I was reading an I hate the lala thread and wondered how long ppl have been disturbed by this particular aircraft.
I started looking at the threads in "Aces High General Discussion" from the beginning.
(You can’t search for "LA7" "LA 7" "LA-7" they are all to short) I saw:
- Lots of community spirit
- Constructive feedback from the community
Made me feel all warm and fuzzy, felt like I had missed out on something great But after I got a few pages in (don’t recall how many).
They started....... The whine threads:
- Why can’t you do it my way?
- Its not fair cause I am not at the top of the pops.
- Mummy never loved me
You get the idea
(NB I am not having ago at anyone in particular here so don’t take offence) And over the years HT has made changes to the game such as when, he lowered the down times for hangers and he limited the fuel losses. so my buff runs don’t really serve a purpose unless I am working with others.
(NOOBS TAKE NOTE OF: “working with others” it adds so much to this game).
And why did HTC make the above changes?
Well in my humble opinion, more ppl fly fighters that’s why. HTC is a business and in business you need to satisfy your customers.
WAIT Don’t start about WB (I think it was WB that I read about from the old threads?) I gather that in the end it sucked cause it was treated as a business by some big company who's idea of a flight model is an air hostess.
Optional joke “Big company who would not know a flight model from Elle McPherson” End Optional JokeWhat you have to realise is HT and the Gang have to find a balance, they have to satisfy their customer’s base without sacrificing the essence of the game.
And what sort of game is AH? that’s right an online air combat sim based around WWII.
And what will be the common denominator of the clients attitude?
The “I am the greatest fighter pilot in the world”. (sorry to those that really are good and those that don’t think they would have changed the world if they were born in 1920.
Now Buff pilots and GV drivers, before you feel bad about this stop and think what AH would be like without them.
There would be no need for you gunners (though I have had a couple of formation to formation rumbles lots and lots of lead flying their, pity the camera was not on, excuse me **cough buffered gun camera.
There would be no sitting in your Ostis dropping P-38’s from D1500 (you either got it or ya don’t)
In fact I think that there would be no AH.
NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So AH may have some points that I don’t like, BUT it’s got MANY more good points that I do like.....
The following is an example of how much I enjoy playing AH:
- 7 am this morning:
I get home, I am getting ready to do some stuff around the house, play the FSO (I am in OZ so it was Friday night in the US at the time) and then goto Bed.
- 9 am:
Work calls and asks me to coming tonight as someone has called in sick
- 12 pm
I get online and get ready to play the FSO I should be done by 2:30 and have time to get 3 hours sleep before I goto to work.
- 12:15 PM
I find that the FSO is cancelled... CRAP. I go looking for my squad in the MA thinking I will say hi and get 5 hours sleep.
- 4:30 pm:
Skilfully dodge the Wife ack about not getting any sleep before work, do my best to make myself human i.e. have a long shower, drink very large coffee ect
- 5:15 pm on the way to work (it’s a long trip). I will get home tomorrow at 7am, tired and buggered but with a strange sense of fulfilment that I would not have had had I slept today.
Now was this worth it?
DUH!!!! Me, the lads from JG44 and others had a blast......
I saw LALA Yes he killed me, but not cause its UBER (I nailed two from a KI67 tail gunner). But because I was focused on his mate in the 202 who was making himself such and easy target that I took my time to line up the shot, lots of time actually, enough for the lala to nail me, I missed the pilots name but
to you both and if you weren’t working together then mr 202 you owe your team mate a beer.
And Yes I think the LALA should be perked, No they are not.
DEAL WITH IT
So where am I going with this ramble…..
what he’s not finished yet you say, Don’t stop now you already read this much 
Ok so my whine is about the whine threads. The ones that popup on a regular basis about the same basic subjects
- Plane perk points
- People gaming the game ie (Dive bombing buffs)
- Kill stealers
- Vulchers
- The furballer vs Boom and Zoomers
- Complaints about HT overloading the sleigh with Air to Air Uber rockets so he can pad his score (or at least get one)
My whine is
STOP WHINING ABOUT THE SAME CRUD OVER AND OVER AGAIN, ASK ONCE OR TWICE THEN SIT DOWN SHUDUP AND FLY
Sorry but the posts about the same topic over and over are really getting my tits.
By now you must realise that:
1- HTC is aware of how some ppl feel about the above type issues. (the Perk point allocation, Dive bombing buffs, Kill stealers, vulchers. and all the other annoyances)
2- HTC has decided not to change some things.
3- Some of these things HTC can’t change.
4- HTC is working on TOD and they have only so many hands to do the work. (Have not heard much on TOD recently so has anyone got a link)
Some times I am sure HTC would like to say something like
“BUGGER OFF I HAVE HAD ENOUGH IF YOU DON’T LIKE IT GO ELSE WHERE.”
I actually think that they might use stronger words but by typing them here I might violate rule 1 through 15 and get nuked by Skuzzy or worse find that the only AC available to my account is the Val with 25% fuel and LALA attractant sprayed all over it.
(Aw hell I would give it a go)
Again Aces High is a business and I have seen nothing but professionalism from Skuzzy, Pyro and HT in their replies to the BBS posts and a few of those posts were arrogant, ignorant, immature or a mix of all three.
So finally, Yes there are things I want changed and added, but again it’s not my decision I can ask and that’s it.
Do you really think that posting the same thing over and over will change it ?
Do you really think I would spend $20 (AUD) a month on AH If it sucked ?
The answer to both questions is NO.
I have better things to do than pay to play something that sucks.
All It Really Comes Down To PPL Is That There Is Nothing Else Out There That Is As Good As AH For Online Air Combat
