Putt Putt Maru is probably the best known of the surviving airworthy P-38's painted in a Pacific theme. Porky II hasn't been around nearly as long, only a couple of years. And even Porky II would be the wrong scheme.
Col. Charles H "Mac" MacDonald was Maj. Thomas B. McGuire's CO, and also an ace with 27 confirmed victories. "Mac" died a couple of years or so ago.
I don't think there is a P-38 around with the paint scheme that would be correct for the subject of the article, or even for the squad. I think they just used the best available pic of a Pacific P-38.
