I know it was designed for the spitty...but the difference between the B pony and the spitifre canopy is pretty striking. Is the spitty we have fitted with the malcolm hood?

Its not as noticeable on the Spit, but it is definitely there.  It was introduced on the mid production Mk.I (IIRC - dont quote me on that).  The top picture is an unrestored, original, BoB Spit I i believe. (has the later war roundels)

Love the Malcolm hood...is that thing gonna cause more drag and if so is the "Hooded" model going to be a 3rd choice, next to un-hooded B and the D?

Gawd, I hated to even ask, I mean now I sound so ungrateful. Let it be said that in a showdown between the hooded B with a little more drag and the original un-hooded B I'd take the Malcolm:aok

The canopy framing on the Malcolm stang looks awefully thin, especially compared to the P-51D canopy framing--or the FW-190. ;)

Will the spitfire eventually have the same general views when (if) its redone?

The Thin rails -
Rails tend to get thicker in proportion to the thickness of the armored glass. So watch out for the HO bf110s:D

The only thing different is the center 'hood' section.

The front glass and canopy frame frames should be just like the were in the previous P-51B. The only change would be to the 'mid-section'.

I don't care anything about P-51s so I don't know how thick or thin the frames should be but the front wind screen and front frame on a Spitfire are completely different then they on a P-51 with or without a 'Malcom hood'.

Look Here

Scroll almost to the bottom and you will see a side by side view of the 'birdcage / Malcom Hood.
