The problem started with random screen freezes only now and then. Screen locked up with straight monotonic sound coming from the speakers.

It didn't CTD or anything and would have stayed there forever unless reset was pressed.

These freezes have become more frequent up to a point where AH stays up just for few minutes before the freeze happens.

The weirdest thing is that just now AH has started to run like it's on fast forward! The speed is something like 2x real time.

Because of the monotonic noise and an error report dealing my sound card. I'm guessing it might have something to do with it.

(The error report was shown only once during startup...don't remember anymore what it said because ---> "this is probably nothing, click"...yep, I'm stoopid.)

Here's my system info:

MSI K8T Neo2 Fir
AMD Athlon 64 3000
Radeon 9500Pro
SB Live! 1024 (using it because of my PCI-hotas)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Check the temps on your video card? Sounds like it could be a card overheat problem, or a sound loop problem either one. Check the drivers for the sound card, and try turning down the hardware acceleration a notch.

I have had corrupted data in the cache folder do this.
Everytime i came anywhere near a GV field it would lock up.
So its possible you may have a corrupt cache folder and of course the more it locks up then the more data can be corrupted.
Try deleting your cache folder and let AH rebuild it.

And yes it was causing lock ups including the sound loop.

Worth a try anyway.

Worse, he has some malware programs running in the background is my bet.

Well, Skuzzy was partially right...

I found one malware program with Ad-aware...

...but deleting it didn't solve the problem although the game stayed up a lot longer before the lock up (might be some normal "variance") and when it happened there was no sound...allhough it has locked up quietly couple of times before aswell.

Game still runs with 2x speed also.

Running out of options here...

At any rate, thanks for the suggestions guys!

EDIT/Just a note, MS Flight Simulator has exact same symptoms./EDIT
