Lucky!!!

First airshow I ever saw was the Angles in Pensacola flying Phantoms...That was loud.

Several years later I saw them twice in Jacksonville, both times in A-4's, it just didn't have the magic of the F-4's...I haven't seen the F-18's yet.

Having lived in Jacksonville, once or twice a year the local squads would have an airshow...I always found those alot of fun.  The crowds are smaller, and you never know what you might see.  I once saw an S-3 Viking roll and do a negative g pullout.

saw them in rhode island a couple weeks back, spectacular so were the snowbirds. The best part of that show was the f-15 f-16 and sabre jet in formation

I helped do security for one of their events last year at the Niagra Airforce Base. Only military personel got to see the show on Friday, rained all weekend for public showing. Was quite amazing. When one of their blue beauties flew wing tip to wing tip with a p-51 it was just incredible.

Imagine those clowns flying over your house every day at 7:00 AM. At least a couple times a month they wake me up rattling my windows WAAAAAY before I want to be up. :)

I did the same at ElToro when I was in.  oh, some 20 odd years ago :p

They went to 18's after I got out, but some of my buddies had the chance to join them as maintenance.

I lived at MCAS ElToro from '82-'90. Dad was the last A-4 Skyhawk CO for VMA-214 before they transitioned to Harriers. I've seen the Blues when they were F-4's, A-4's and F-18's and I think the A-4's were the best...really tight formation.

Try living close to edwards airforce base, sonic BOOM City!   their sonic boom coridor is next to the mountians I live by.   Lately, here and there we get sonic booms at night which is Very unusual,...  hummmm snicky bastages.

Plant 42- and  the skunk works are 25 miles away from me also,  You can sit 1/4 mile away from the end of the runway and the planes go over your head not more then 100 feet above you. yf22,  f117'z , sr 71,B1, B2, all kinds of plane the rock your socks off.    And you be hope'n thay dont get no flame outs,  big a big mess,  ewwwwwww!

They also have a plane museum , once or twice a year you can go and sit in the  sr71, and  get you pic taken  :p  also in the plane thats like the sr71 but its the first one called something else (yb71 err something like that)  and it escapes my mind at the moment.  they get more cool planes in there every year.

I was in 314 (BlackKnights...get it? :p ) 82-86.  Did guard duty for a few months, walked the 214 flight line a few times lol.  214 was still A4's back then, no harriers when i left.

Man I miss the egg burgers they used to make over at the control towers little cafe.

I am somewhat partial to F18's but I admit the A4's were the most impressive of the Blue Angels birds that I have seen in action (film of course, only saw 'em live with F4's)

Hey tactic,  I grew up in Kern county.  Used to see and hear all kinds of aircraft, even over at the western end of the county.  I remember a pair of low phantoms sneakin in toward LA from our side of the mountains.  That was a very cool sight for a 16 year old kid on the farm.

I remember one of the A4 shows was at Jacksonville Beach to celebrate x years of something.  They came out and practiced on Thursday and Friday.  Nothing like seeing an A4 flying over the city at about 100 feet.
During the show on Saturday, one of the A4's lost an aileron and extended straight out to Mayport NAS.  The show went on without a hitch, except for the few that noticed one was missing.
Years later a homeowner was having roof work done, and the aileron was found embedded in his roof.  If I remember, the Navy picked up the tab to repair his roof.

I like the low level headon into crowd attack demo i saw at Mather AFB and Travis AFB, comes in  at treetop then zooms up just at/ past the crowd, usually 10-20 elderly folks end up on their butts from the compression and noise, and you feel the heat from the engines and two flames heading straight up. Cant even see the bird till its right on top of you.

funny as hell.

You remember LCpl Foote? He's the "Follow me" truck driver that stole an A-4 from El Toro in the middle of the night, took it for a joyride and was going to land it at Nellis in Las Vegas and walk away, but he scared himself and came  back to El Toro. That was one of my Dad's 214 A-4's, we could hear him circling looking for the runway (lights were off because it was 4:00 AM) and he couldnt find it. A Gunny broke down the door to the tower to turn the lights back on for him. Dad was CO from '85-'87 so you might have been there.
