Fightertown in CT - deja vu
« on: July 16, 2005, 05:02:17 PM »
Not this week, but NEXT WEEK, the CT will try a fightertown setup again.  This week is late desert war, lots of fun and nice balance for people who would like to fly the early war planes without being swamped by 51s, La7s and Spits.

The first time CT had fightertown, it drew a crowd for about two nights.  Some suggested that this was due to the lack of advertising, because the topic of a fightertown has long been a subject of these boards, and there are many who have expressed an interest in it.  To that end, I wanted to make sure that it was well-advertised this time.

And so.....

Sometime on Friday, 22 July, unless bad things happen to me before then, I'll put up a fightertown setup in the CT.  My thoughts at this point are as follows, and I'd like all the input I can get:

The plane set will be Axis v. Allied.   Hey, it's the CT.

Rather than divide the planes up into three groups (early, mid and late war), I propose to divide it into two groups.  Roughly, the BoB planes, the Guadalcanal planes, and the desert planes will be in the early-to-mid-war place, everything else in late-war.  I'd appreciate thoughts as to how exactly to make this division, but presently I think the Hurri II, P-40E and P-38G will be the most uber Allied plane, and the 109F and 202 the most uber Axis, for the early/mid-war set.  All others (which means all Russian planes, all other spits, all 47s and 51s, all the FWs and other 109s and so on) will be in the late war group.

For lack of any better suggestion, I'll use FinnRus map, with planes enabled at widely-divergent places (like, Arctic Circle v. Baltic).

All of this is dependent upon my being able to get it to work.

Your comments are sought.

Did they fix the BUG issues with the FinRus Map yet?

Most of the time you have too re-log because of the dot bug.

I'm not crazy about the Rhine map Oldman, but with the "invisible dot" bug in the FinRus map, it might be a better choice. Tunisia wouldnt be bad either.

I've always been Fond of the Rangoon Map with the P-40's  and Zeke's,but i know that's out of the question.

My choice would be the Solomon's Map.
