I don't want that thread to come here but no I tried alot of things.  I'm going to a tire shop tomorrow.  I only live 3 miles from work so I'm not to worried bout driving it.  If worse comes to worse I'll hoof it.

About the uppers I think they are steel horse brand.  The other problem I run into is that they and the hard top don't exactly mesh too well.  I've filed them down and made adjustments but it only helps a little.  Just be carefull with the aftermarket stuff.  It probably doesnt help that mine sits on the Garage floor 3-5 months out of the year and it's probably 10+ years old.  I plan on keeping my hard top but getting a soft top some time soon.

Personally, during this time a year I don't have doors at all on my jeep.  It's really nice to kick the foot up on the hinge and ride like that.  of course the last time it rained at all was in late april so I don't have to worrry bout that either.  :aok

I see a Pentagon Staff position in your future, Colonel.

Suggestion.. don't ask for an office with an outside view. They might give it to you. ;)

Sorry natedog I disagree.

I remove my half doors in the summer just as I would if I had full doors.  The advantage comes in the winter time especially if you live any where it might get even slightly cold.

I used to commute from Sherman to Carrolton every day and It would have been such a better (quite) ride had I gotten full doors.

Even the full "soft" doors are nice in the winter.

Same thing goes with drain plugs.  I takem out in the summer but allways put them back in when it's time to "winterize"

EDIT:  anyone else have a problem with the plastic inserts for their uppers breaking when you get to highway speed?

I agree with everything you said, but full doors only go with hard tops.
we had an 81 CJ7...... summer... no doors
spring, fall, and long hiway travel....... half doors..
winter, hard top and full doors.

I miss my CJ.  My YJ is nice but I allways consider it too fragile (no that doesnt make it italian:p  )  I'd beat the Hell out of my CJ5 an it would just ask for more.  Nothing ever broke much.....cept when the cancer set in.  It was a Missouri jeep living out it's last final days in the deserts of Arizona.  The rust took hold of the frame and a few of the body mounts were the first to go.....Then the fenders.....

It was sad.  Like I said the YJ is fun and all but it breaks ALOT more.

I wanna get a 79 CJ7 with a V8.... and restore it.
either that, or an old Land Rover Defender.

Have a budy with a 67 CJ5, its in peaces in his garage, he ordered a brand new custome frame set up for a GM steering box, but you have to fab all the linkage, and he hasnt yet.

has a little buick V6 in it.

His current rig is a suzuki samuri lol.
