Hey Guys -

Anyone from Texas know of any salvage yards for old car parts?  Specifically '64 chevy impala convertibles...

I finished getting the front clip off yesterday and found some rust in areas which may require a donor car....    Oh well, what can you expect for a salt belt car....

Any help is appeciated...  Thanks!!

Going back that far (1963/64) is going to be VERY difficult unless you look around West Texas, it is just too moist east of IH35 (line from brownsville to Dallas). Within 100 miles of that line to the west things get arrid in a hurry. Junk yards out in the high desert have unrusted cars from the 40s in them.

Unfortunatley I cannot recommend a specific one. Ask the same in New Mexico or Arizona too.

You're kidding, right? I think your best bet is to go the JC Whitney route.

Why would I be kidding?  

I went to JC whitney and all they had for sheet metal for the '64 was a $64 dollar fender and a $32 dollar rocker panel.  When standard fender costs upwards of 350 bucks from everyone else, no way am I going to buy something for $64 dollars.  That screams of bad fit and junk.

I wouldn't mind doing a road trip to get some car parts, especially for some relatively clean originals....

What I ment was there are'nt any junkyards that will have anything that old. Your best bet would be aftermarket. I think most of Whitney's Chevy body stuff comes from Brazil.

You could try looking at AutoTrader.com and do a search for someone parting one out.

You can always try Hemmings too, but great deals don't happen there.
