What a novel and unique concept, choosing someone who is extremely qualified instead of choosing someone based on race or gender.

I like it.  I hope it starts a new trend.

Don't know anything bad about the guy...yet.

Who?
The price of Freedom is the willingness to do sudden battle, anywhere, any time and with utter recklessness...

...at home, or abroad.

You'll have to wait until the democrat-dirty-laundry-service attendant has time to compile his blueprints for press disaster.

"The president has chosen someone with suitable legal credentials, but that is not the end of our inquiry," said Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid of Nevada. Referring to planned hearings in the Senate Judiciary Committee, Reid said, "I will not prejudge this nomination. I look forward to learning more about Judge Roberts."

It's not so bad that they want to know about a canidate but when they want to know things they have no business knowing then procede to discuss taboo FBI files in a public forum when we all know they don't want to give an up or down vote on them becaue they'd lose....

No, actually I have to find out his decisions and track record. I like the fact he was Chief Clerk for Reinquist. He looks to be a Centrist from what I've seen. I'm actually surprised by Bush picking an apparently swing vote instead of a hardline conservative.

All I have ever said about the SCOTUS is it needs to be balanced.

The press over here sais he claims that he is a moderate conservative, but the democrats suspect that he is more conservative than he sais.

He is _supposedly_ very conservative when it come to abortion, freedom of speach and religion...

the left would be whining if Bush had selected ted the drunk kennedy just because Bush is Bush

does the left have an agenda these days other than going 180 from EVERYTHING this admin says or does?

I guess the last 3 elections hasn't taught those losers anything...

Roberts is right of center but not that far from center at all ... Bush could have gone more right for my taste .. the left would have cried just the same...

ps

Roberts will get it so whatever dog & pony show the left pulls out of its arse, will be nothing but a waste of time & our tax dollars...

Honestly, this is all they need to look at.  So what if abortion goes back to being a state's rights thing.  If the guy is qualified to be a judge on the Supreme Court, and the President nominates him... confirm him.
