I went boom today after spending 10 minutes dragging a ki84 home with a pilot wound. Had about 200 speed and 50 ft of alt, pushed slightly down to belly land before the next blackout and boom.

Yup, shoulda left it the way it was. A belly landing is quick and fast and gets you out of the neme's sights in a hurry.
I also disagree with calling my landing a "ditch" if I'm not on the pavement.  Any successful landing within the boundaries of the airfield should be a good one.

Naw, to many people abused it. You'd ping them up near their base, they'd run while you engaged another plane and quickly belly just to deny you a virtual kill. And I agree with you on the feild landing, but I'm pretty sure HT already stated in an older thread that it's like that to add another challange to the game. Don't quote me on that though.

Spits belly land easily under 150. I did note this in the TA. I tried to belly land a spit at 250. I set down smooth but it took off again as the prop broke, I slowed down to 120 and it exploded on the second, very soft, touch down.

Baaahhhhh. It don't matter if they ditch or not, if you put them out of the fight, you win. Never cared either way, course I'm not in it for the glory.... just the fun.
