Hope they make a WWII mod for this thing!

Funked, did you try using the gun sight (kpd 0)? It makes a bit more of a challange to whack troops at that range.

I found the PK to be a very wise investment

Specially when you come over that hill and the second set of buildings has ruskies everywhere. Then 4 tanks show up to boot.

after messing with it for a while i have decided i WILL be buying this game, considering the rareness of a truely GOOD "boxed" game this is a definate diamond in the rough... They did a knockdown job, the have my money.  Thay have really raised the bar in the FPS relm with this..considering all the vehicles and even planes and helicopters you can fly, this should be VERY competitive with WW2 OL...considering WW2OL lives up to its hype....
EDIT:  There will A-10 Warthog, several boats, scud launchers THAT FIRE, stinger AA missles (you can tote around) morters, demolitions.

THERE IS ALSO A PATCH FOR THE DEMO OUT.

Oh yea..imagine Panzer and osti missions if AH had Flashpoints terrain system.... <drool>

I don't think that this is the case.  The vehicle wasn't 'Jeep' to begin with - it was 'SoldierWB', so if I change the 'vehicle' to 'SoldierWMG', it shouldn't have any effect on the jeep at all.

Sigh.. I'm completely addicted   Try a UH60 mission in the night... I'm very impressed by how difficult the UH60 is to land. Sneaky troop drops are going to be a skill in themselves..

theres also a patch called  TENTS2TANKS
what it does is change the tents at the first waypoint on yer mission into a bunch of vehicles THAT YOU CAN DRIVE

I think I figured out what throws me off in this game... there is a LOT of play in the weapon sight before the 'view' moves...  in most games of this type (including infiltration, which has a similar 'aiming within the screen - not with dead center'), you can look around pretty quickly, which makes up for the limited POV, and you can constantly be looking on your flanks, etc. for enemies.  Before you say it, yes, I know that you can 'freelook' while running, but this is a bit clunky...

I wish the dead zone wasn't so large so I could 'see' more easily.

And while we are on subject, does anyone happen to know what the distance points are in the Carl Gustav sight?

No idea on the Gustav. I can find out easily enough. My only criticism right now is the scaling of the player models compared to your sight picture. In real life I can hit man-sized targets with a M16A2 at 300m no problem. In the game, I can barely make out the figures through the sights.

Kratzer, as modeled in OFP, the Carl Gustav has some sort of magic tracking system.  Put the target vehicle in the center of the sight, right click to lock on, and let fly.  It's fire and forget.

I HATE those T72's.

I usually grab the RPG after clearing the town down the hill and wait to ambush, but it takes two direct hits to knock one out. So after nuking the first one I only have 1 grenade left. I can never make it to the ammo dump to grab another shell before the other two whack me. Lately I've been running around to nail the Shuilken and the BMP, but the helicopter always gets blown away before I can make it back and see if I still get shot down. Tried parking the T72 on the hill and going back and playing the mission, but the RPG guys always manage to nail me before I can hit the other T72's.

Wish I could find more Gustav rounds

Are there Gustav rounds at the checkpoint with the M2 HMG?  I know there is a bunch of ammo in there.

I got a T-72 and a BMP today, and was stalking another T-72 when some stray troops showed up.  I had a convenient corpse (LOL) nearby so I switched to M60 and got all but one.  Of course he came back as I was about to kill the T-72, and killed me.

I finished the demo with a victory this evening...all men survived and we held Houdan.

The tanks must of been right over the hill because I saw the smoke as they down shifted to go up the hill. But, they never came over.

Tried killing the Shuilken and then getting on the helicopter but you still get shot down.

Try the night patch along with the Officer with Night vision thing. I guess flares aren't working yet but the headlights are UNREAL! best attempt and point source lighting I have ever seen! And the muzzle flashs and explosions, missle streaks and every thing you can watch from on top of the hill as Bravo platoon is wiped out is eeriely immersive.

I found night time alot funner, the infantry can't see you...But the damn tanks do, They will throw a spot light on you and every gun in the whole area will light you up! The pocket flash light is a nice touch too...

Very easy to get lost without the map...and those dang troops hose any muzzle flash they see. Practically invulnerable at night if you fire a short burst and move. Outta really be cool with flares. Ugh, I can't wait for this one to come out.

try the M21 sniper rifle, there is a patch available that allows you to use it, it also changes 3 of the 4 tents at checkpoint 1 to vehicles
BMP
Shika
UH60
it also adds an ammo dump near your start point and another at waypoint 1

My fave is to take off in the UH60 with 4 LAW rockets and a sniper rifle.  Sneak in around the enemy in the village, land the chopper the take off on foot until i get within say 400 meters and them hammer a tank with a LAW, then when things heat up I haul bellybutton back to my chopper, occasionally dropping down into some bushes and picking off those who dare persue...unless i get a BMP after me than I just haul bellybutton and boogy out of there.   then I had back and land near an ammo dump and re-arm myself and head off again.

My most memorable mission this far is one time i got caught by a BMP before i could reach the chopper, so I ran into a bunch of woods and hid, the BMP wandered around looking for me for a while and then stopped.. I had 4 grenades with me so i crawled up to within about 30meters of it, it was just on the other side of a bush from me and the gun was pointed away..finally i got the nerve and tossed a frag at it, it landed right under it and BOOM! it jerked violently and there was smoke everywhere, then to my horror that big bellybutton gun came swinging around so ran a few feet and dove again..and waited...and waited...he couldent see me, he was only about 50m away, i turned around and peeked around the bush i was behind, his turret was swaying back and forth looking in the area i WAS in..he was looking for me..I tossed another frag  BOOM! again i took off running again, and never looked back...then as I was about 300m of my chopper BOOM crraaackkk BOOM!!, it exploded, the bmp got it, suddenly i started hearing sporatic gunfore all around me, the whole while I was messing with that BMP they had been slowly sneaking up on me..there is no surrender button, I went for cover and took as many of them out as i could, the a machine gunner killed my legs so i just layed...out of ammo...out of frags..our of luck...I was an infant..i just layed there there then i heard the squeaky grinding sound of treads the BMP was on its way..it it stopped 65m away...the gunfire had all stopped...i couldent see the enemy but I knew there were there..what were they waiting for?...I looked at the BMP again..its turret began to slowly move swinging around till it was pointed straight at me...........

BTW, if you want to edit the time of day and make it darker or lighter..
Open your Hex editor and do a search for "hour"

You will find a line that says Hour=xx Miniute=xx

use military time and put it at whatever ya want.
