Frame Rates are down in the new patch
« on: July 22, 2005, 01:00:29 AM »
My frame rates were about 56-59 fps in full view before the patch.  Almost never under 45fps even in heavy smoke, fire, furballs etc.

Now they are down to about 20 or so, sometimes 12.  I can get back to 56fps in the medium view with some tinkering.

I have a Athlon 3400+ with a 256M ATI Radeon X700 graphics card.

Is this a bug or any suggestions?

I haven't done any testing yet, but subjectively the framerate seems much slower when looking at trees.

My frame rates are ususally in the high 40s down low and 74 (limited) when high or clear view in front.

New patch, frames down to mid 30s when down low, and dropping to single digits when I zoom in.

ATI Radeon 256M PCI Express video

I have noticed that my framerate on the runway when first starting the game after a reboot is 10 (used to be 60s-80s).  However, so far, if I then exit the game and restart, the frame rates return to normal.

getting some slowing issues, and noticed that the textures on the trees seem to have something different going on with the texture - sorta like "noise" or "static"...if that makes sense.

ATI here as well.

Just for the sake of comparison, my Geforce card has registered an improvement of around 6-10 fps all the way round.

1 gig ram, 6800 ultra 256mb video running at 425 mhz, MSI K8n Diamond motherboard and an athalon 3500 processor... cant even come close to running the game wide open.... 15 frames per second because of the trees when I'm low.  Something wrong with that.

Yes, and the problem exist on your PC.

Mine: 3.2Ghz P4, 1gb RAM, gForce 6600gt 128, FOXCONN MB I get 60 in the air and 40s/50's skimming the trees.

You shuld be running no more that 13 or so processes when running AH, preload textures & skins.

What texture size and resolution are you running?

I run nearly 50 processes but how can I get rid of the ones I don't need without causing problems?

My rig can easily handle Pacific Fighters on Perfect settings but it gets mini-pauses, I suspect from processes.

If anyone could help with this aspect, a many thanks.

Around 20 is considered "normal" and healthy Sigma.  50 is incredible.  I have 12 or 13 when I boot to play AH.
