No Percs from sinking ships
« on: July 26, 2005, 07:15:04 PM »
I guess it must have come up before - but I've often sunk a cruiser or a CV using JU88s + torps and not received any percs at all. The missions are nearly always suicidal I know - and the ships sink way after I'm dead - but still. It would be nice to get something sometimes.

Which reminds me - there doesn't seem to be a way of viewing accrued percs during the current session - only the last flight.
Here we are, living on top of a molten ball of rock, spinning around at a 1,000mph, orbiting a nuclear fireball and whizzing through space at half-a-million miles per hour. Most of us believe in super-beings which for some reason need to be praised for setting this up. This, apparently, is normal.

You must stay alive you receive perk points, just the way it works.  Also, why would you want to view how many points you have for the sortie?  Or do you want it for the time logged?  Either way I think it's fine to view the total in the hanger afterwards.

Nirvana, that isn't true at all. If you die, aquired perks are multiplied by a certain number, I believe 0.25. That number changes if you land, ditch, bail, or are captured as well.

I can spend quite a while flying across a open sea to strike at fleet - at a guessed location - and then take down the cruiser or CV. To get nothing for it is a complete waste.

I do get percs from similar bombing missions - why is attacking a fleet any different? I still think the percs could be added to the next mission's totals are just allocated to the session.

As for viewing percs - if I'm on for an evening I'd like to know what I scored during that evening. Mission by mission amounts vary considerably and I'd really like to know when it's been a 'good' or 'bad' evening. I can't at the moment without pen and paper.

If you actually hit the ship and got a message saying "x has been destroyed"...  Even if its just a gun or something on it, you should be getting the perk points?

At least you always used to?  Are you sure you are actually in fact hitting the ship or have you simply lined up right, sent your bombs flying, and then died before they hit?  If this is the case then no, you would not get perks for it.

I'm not exactly sure what you are saying?

Did the torps hit before you died ?
I think if you die first, ya don't get credit.

you have to be alive n flying when ur bombs/torps/rockets hit thier target to get the points for destroying it. otherwise target is still destroyed but no points awarded.

same goes for bombing strats and fields, and trooping a town. u have to be alive when the bombs/troops arrive @ target or no points.

Worded it wrong Ooz, my bad.  I meant what the other two said about being alive during the damage to aquire perks.

Here's an easy pen and paper method Martyn, if you don't do it already.  Write down perks at the beginning of the night, then at the end write down the perks you have then just subtract beginning from end.

Say you start with 2345.34 Fighter perks.  At the end of the night you have 2794.76 fighter perks.

2794.76-2345.34=449.42 total perks for the night

Bless your soul if you were adding the perks from each sortie.

Or just keep MSCalculator running in the background. I doubt it munches resources. :D

LOL - :lol Thanks for the advice guys. It looks like if I die before the ship's sunk I get no percs for it. I'll just have to stop these suicidal JU88 runs and launch and run from a greater distance - which in point of fact is probably better for gaming point of view anyway.

And yes - I know I can take the difference of total percs between the beginning and the end - it's just be more convenient for a running session total is all.

Thanks again.   :aok
