Rabies

The biggest worry with bats is rabies. Especially if they don't fear humans. Fear of humans is one of the first things that leaves animals infected with rabies.

A Cornell gradute student gave a talk at our company last month. He does research on the locomation of bats on the ground. He took video of vampire bats and how they run. Apparently the buggers are fast as lightning on the ground. Here's some video of them and an article about them.

Bah. spiders are nothing.
the house im working on now is in a semi rural setting. Spiders of all sizes and shapes are everywhere. Must be hundreds if not thousands of them.
Under the awnings. in the eves. attached to the gutters and downspouts. where the siding overlaps. in the bushes. in the grass. in the ivy. You mane a place and Im seeing them there.
Must be at least 10 different species including one with a kinda stick figure shape to it that gyrates wildly back and forth whenever its web is disturbed. Pretty cool actually.

Had another experiance today. Got stung on my back by a carpenter bee when I leaned against the hole in the wood it had burrowed into. Fist time I've ever known one to sting

Bats Im referring to are common bats. Vampire bats arent endogenous to the northeast.

My understanding that bats are actually benificial and can eat up to their weight in mosquitoes every night.

thats alot of skeeters

Im not afraid of bats. Just wasnt expecting one to land on me. though Im sure the bat was as surprised to see me as I was it. LOL

Yep, if you have bats near you probably don't have many insects.  Might be good things to have as pets or something, don't have to feed them.
