Minime is ~ 5months now, and for the last month or so has acquired a habit of grabbing his nuts everytime his nappies off or hes bathing.

Is this bad?

Is this good?

Is this genetic? (the wife is blaming it on me)

It is a good sign that he is grabbing his OWN nuts..

Im by no means an expet at parenting.

But im fairly sure its normal. Kids do play with their genitals very early on, discovering themselves, getting a feel for their bodies. Very much like playing with their toes. It being 'unnormal' and 'improper' is just our grown-up social conventions.

Worry again if hes 15 and still does it publicly ;).

Didn't Freud have this as one of his stages in his Psychoanalytic theory of development?  IIRC there was an oral stage, an anal stage and...penal stage?:rofl

Completly normal at this age.
Expect this to be 1/2 month long, next he will be very busy trying to walk.

You can trust me , my 2 kids made the same at the same age like 99% of the childrens.
(and they have impressive erections :D)

Vulcan, my RN wife says this: "They grab them all their life, whether 6 months old, playing sports, or 88 years old."

My 4.5 year old asked me the other day "whats these" as he was rolling his B's around in his fingers tips, had all I could do not to laugh.
