Actually, I think TOD is aimed more at folks that don't even play AH right now. I believe the "target market" is "box game" simmers wanting "careers" that they can follow like in the olden days with Red Baron.

I could be wrong though.

Also, I think HT mentioned at one of the cons that a FPS aspect could be added to AH. Long time ago though and I don't really remember the details.

As for editing, I think you have like 5 or 10 minutes to edit and then what you type is set forever.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

Infantry is not part of the evolutionary chain:

In the begining God said "Let there be multiplayer online air combat" and the heavens of Air Warrior appeard.

and the dweebs marveled in wonder at this creation.
and the dweebs after enjoying the fruits of this creation said:
"We shall take our blessed A-26 Invaders and rest them at the end of the enemy runway.
and we shall smite the ifediels that attempt to spawn"

and God was not pleased.  He said "let there be flakpanzers".
and the flakpanzers spawned and smote to ruin the heritics.

and the dweebs marveled at the non flying creation.
and the dweebs said:
"Let us drive these flakpanzers an hour and rest them at the end of the enemy runway.
and we shall smite the infediels that attempt to spawn"

and God was not pleased.  He said "let there be panzers."
and the panzers spawned and smote the dweebs to ruin.

We don't really know.  We know that they are working on Tour of Duty, which will be a lot more structured but we haven't a lot of details.

We know that they are bring the existing aircraft up to AH2 graphics standards, with the Spitfire and Bf109 series being the next group to be done,

As to infantry, well, they were mentioned at the 2001 Convention as an idea, but that was nearly four years ago and we haven't got any infantry.

AH2 made large strides in making the ground more detailed for GVs, but it is still a far cry from what infantry would need.  The fact that aircraft must see the same things and maintain usable framerates limits what can be done in that regards.

I quoted collisto, meant to quote thread starter. My appologies for the mixup.

Maybe allow the general disc threads to be edited like they used to be? Rather than however many minutes it is now. Shoulda just killed the oclub all together.

Maybe its because now you have to use the Edit/Quote button *below* the post, not - like old design - the one on top rigth of the post...

Seems like it is difficult to break habits... ;)

PS: took me awhile to figure it out as well, i guess im getting old.

SirEvil

After you've been around here for 3,4,5 years. You'll beguin to see that Hitech has
one heck of a plan for AH. He doesn't always know all the details. He doesn't always share where he's going.

But he & his team know where they are headed. Trust me, if you just kick back & relax, and go along for the ride. In the end I doubt you'll be disappointed.

Its kinda like a roller coaster, you don't get to drive, but its still fun.

WWIIOnline is dead?  What happened?

Not that I played it, I just know guys that did and if it did indeed die, I look forward to seeing them back.

No infantry for me thanks; they don't explode or catch fire when I shoot them.
you do know TOD is going to be like the dogfighters dream?

there almost assuredely will not be base capture like we know it in ToD. don't hope for it to "take the strat weenies" away, more like take away the flight sim fighter guys.

AH quit being a Air Combat game a long long time ago. It is quake with wings and roundels in its present state of play.

Yeah, tool shedding sounds about right for bringing back its WW2 AirCombat roots.  I will wait on ToD.

B29 with atom bomb..but entire arena is alerted  thru special radar dot when airborne so the good guys have to try to escort it and the bad guys do everythting they can to stop it!

Still combining Sub aspect like "silent hunter" and destroyer hunter to game would be cool!

B25's the plane..... and enable to take off CV's like Doolitle would be cool.

Still think PBY cool plane ....add deal when you land in water to save friendly down pilot ...you get perks and they save perks.

Someone said large landing craft with task force with multiple landing craft as it approaches the beach!

How about a couple of guns on shore ..smaller than Shore guys to help stop landing craft!

How about the D-Day troop gliders pulled be hind C47's with troops or a GV in it on successful landing?   999000

For those who like fast kills and be killed by the spawners and friends go play AH2

for the serious players with more imagination there will be TOD.

Tod will be new the rest oldschool.

As my time get spare i rather play 1 quality mission  than 10 fast quake sorties.
