Nothing to see here, move along

I'm wondering if this is one of those threads that should have been locked by the author.

While 200 is no longer a default channel, I don't believe that much of what is said is acceptable in the eyes of HTC. While enforcement isn't consistent, and has on occasion appeared biased, there's a lot of personal/racial/derogatory/profane stuff that isn't necessary and doesn't add anything to the game. Jet was taunting the moderator, and that, in my experience, always earns you a 10min time out.

When you are warned about anything you say, if you feel that it's biased or uncalled for, you should take a screenshot and send it in. Further provoking the mod, and then whining on the bbs are both counterproductive.

Umm, thats why I DONT tune 200 most times.  I DONT want to hear it.  I think its pitiful that so many people have so little self control, and even worse that they get mad when someone tries to get them to behave.  I think its a sad statement on HTC's part that they caved in to you babies and took away Ch. 1, forcing the rest of us who ever want to communicate across countries to put up with your inane drivel and childish insults with no recourse.  The mods were and still are a great idea that dont get enough support because of whiners complaining they cant say Friggen or Fricken or Frackin or any other word substituted for a 4 letter word with an "-en or -in or -ing" on the end of it.

Listen people.  YOU ARE IN SOMEONE ELSE'S HOUSE HERE, BE RESPECTFUL AND PLAY BY THEIR RULES.  OTHERWISE, PACK UP AND GO HOME.

There.  Sorry.  Had to get that out.

WTF??  You go over to someone else's house, you just cuss all you want in front of their family?  Call their mother names?  Try that in my house, in front of my kid.  I'll smack the white off yer teeth.  But I have to put up with it on vox, even though I wouldnt normally allow it in  my house, because you cant be bothered to control yourself?

Guess what.  I dont feel any sympathy for ya if you get muted, banned, whatever.  You have to give respect before you earn it for yourself.

Shouldn't vox be used sparingly.

Check six calls, tgt identification, tgt allocation that sort of thing. Chatter on vox is very un millitary isn't it old chap?;)

Wasn't aware 'Frickin' was a swearword.

Thought it was like 'Smeg!'

A comedic alternative to a swearword.

Actually neither "frickin" nor "smeg" is a curseword!  Frickin may be viewed as a way around the filter to say the "f" word.  "Smeg" is short for the real word, which we don't want to get into here or in the MA!  No need to get upset about any of it really!

While in principle I agree with you and am not advocating, or condoning the use of bad language, your missing a few pertinent points.

1) That is why Ch. 1 was 'disabled'
2) No one is "forcing" you to listen to Ch. 200, you choose to tune it.
3) Ch. 200 was selected by the community.

Whats next? Mods eavesdropping on squad channels and muting people.

Ch. 200 is exactly the same as a TV channel - you CHOOSE to select it, it is not forced on anybody.

In many months playing AH2, i havent been moderated once. What am i doing wrong?

Serious: Take a pen and paper and write whatever you need to get out of your system down. Helps. Really. And just dont say anything on radio (no matter wich channel) that you think might make them mod you. Youll be happier. I dont think complaining on BBS serves anything besides getting moderated again and maybe being the initiator of another locked thread. The moderators (if there even are any, i thought it was a simple programmed filter) do have 'the bigger cannon' in the long run.

Moderators will always be problematic for a couple of reasons -

1) Everyone has different values.
2) Everyone interprets things differently.
3) Applying your 'standards' to other people will always result in problems. i.e. what I find offensive or passable will be different to anyone else.
4) It is impossible for 'player' moderators to apply a level set of standards to all other players, because of personal friendships etc.
Anyone who says they can are living in a fantasy world.

A wide ranging set of filters may be part of the answer, but unfortunately it's not the whole answer.
'Player' moderators aren't the answer in any way because of point 4).
To be honest I don't know know the be all and end all solution, I just feel the current situation is causing friction.

Maybe someone can come up with something?
