Hi Guys,
I was travelling home from work last night listening to the local Christian station when I happened to catch the tail end of an interview with a U.S. Marine, Ed Harrell who survived the sinking of the USS Indianapolis talking about his experience during those days in the water. It was the most riveting and in-depth discussion of the subject I've encountered to date.
For those of you who may be unfamiliar with the story, the Indianapolis was a heavy cruiser sunk on July 29, 1945 in the Pacific by a Japanese sub. Because it's mission (delivering the Atomic bomb to Tinian) was secret and it was traveling alone, no one knew of its loss for days. The survivors spent those awful days gradually being whittled down by marauding sharks, injuries and the merciless sun. Harrowing stuff.
