FAA Pilot Certificate search
« on: August 04, 2005, 05:52:14 PM »
The FAA has a search interface where you can find out what certifications various pilots have.

I just looked up George Walker Bush, he has commercial certificate for single engine, multi-engine, and instrument rating.  He got his initial certificate in 1969.

His dad got HIS certificate in 1945 (Commercial Pilot) but is only single engine.  No instrument, no multi.  Thought that was pretty funny.  Wonder if that ever comes up at BBQs.

John Travolta's certificate, interestingly enough, is only Private.  He has instrument, ASEL and AMEL plus type ratings for P/CE-500, P/G-1159, P/HS-125, P/LR-JET, and VFR limits for CE-500.

I'm finally listed, takes the system forever to update, but a cool resource.

A thought....  Address and Medical for the president aren't listed, that's fine.  But I'd like to know if it's because someone protected his account, or if it's because his medical certificate is not current.

If the latter, then when he flew to the USS Lincoln a couple years ago, the PIC would have needed to be a CFI for the president to log the time.

Gotta wonder whether he logged any PIC time or not...  that there FAA might rap his knuckles if he did so improperly.  :D

Didn't he fly on an S-3?

There are four seats in that bird and I highly doubt GWB was anywhere near a stick. You don't just land on an aircraft carrier on a whim.

I read that he flew a big leg of the flight.  There's more to flying than landing on a pitching, heaving postage stamp, that's just the only part anyone remembers.  :)

Address is 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.  They'll forward it to Crawford.

Karl Rove had all this cleaned up too.

Angelina Jolie is listed as having just received 'foreign based private license' a few days ago.  She's a pilot too?  Hmm...  maybe I should give her a second chance...

I had fun with that a while ago. Looked up people like John Travolta, Harrison Ford etc. Surprised to see John Travolta's address. I guess it's no secret. Looked up my FAA licence too. That does include my address. It has all the details as they appear on my licence.

I must go back and look my old CFI's from Bolivar aviation.

As for George W. I think as commander in chief.  He can fly a military aircraft if he wants to and stuff the FAA. :p

I'm going to look up John and Martha King, apparently they have all possible FAA ratings.

Interesting, looked up a some people from my congregation who I know fly and some Pastor buddies.

Most interesting "factoid" I found was that the name of one of my friends whom I've always known as "Howie" is actually John Howard.

Oh and apparently my "Virtual LA5 Single Engine Land" is not on file. Bummer.
