Credit card info and host connection lost
« on: August 05, 2005, 07:11:15 PM »
Couple weeks ago while logging into the game I get this message that my account was in the negative or whatever words they use.
So I contact HTC and am told the card I am using and doesnt expire till next year had expired and I simply needed to update the card info.

So I shrugged my shoulders and did it. Problem solved.
Welll not quite.
Now there is a new problem

Now ever since I did this every time I try to log into the game after a fresh boot up on my computer I get a "Host conection lost" upon entering the MA.

If I reload the game then I gt in just fine. It only happens if I've rebooted my computer since the last time I played.

As long as I dont reboot there is no problem. But if I do then I get to log in twice.

Dont know if its connected or not but this also seems to have effected my gunnery as I am missing on ALOT of shots I would normally and routinely score good solid hits on.

Both seem to have started  right after I re entered my credit card info as I didnt have either problem before that.

Dred,

I think after the last update, if you enter a credit card with a higher credit limit you land more/stronger hits in gunnery.
It's part of HT's new "bribe" program.

If that were the case considering my credit limit keeps going up and not down. I should be getting more hits. Not less no? LOL

Nevermind. Re-installed the game and the problem went away

Hmmm. Now you have me thinking about doing a fresh install of AH. The problem you mentioned seems related to the offline speed bug. When textures are preloading, they 're currupting something. In your case it caused a timeout. In my case it causes double speed planes offline. When you start the second time, you had no problem. The textures were already in video memory. When I start a second time, everything is fine. During preloading, the textures are over running a buffer. Its impossible to know what other side effects that could have.

Did you keep your settings folder?

Yup. the only thing I didnt keep was the sounds. but I dont run that many custom sounds anyway.

I have come to the conclusion that a fresh install is good every once in a while and I notice  Im always better off and get better performance with a fresh install with each new version of the game as opposed to just going with the update.

Seems to solve all problems from stutters to rubber bullets.

Dunno why but for me it works.
the main thing is you gotta manually delete the game through Windows explorer uninstall seems to not work right and actually for me it usually doesnt work at all.

I still have AHI installed and when I do  re install is copys over my settings from there so there are very few adjustments I have to make when I go to play
