Ok guys, I'm trying to get a feel for the sorry bunch of people in here that call themselves a community.  There is only one way that you can raise my estimation of you all:  confess your speed addiction.

Mine: Can't get enough of Formula One racing, World Grand Prix motorcycles, World Superbike motorcycles and World Rallying.

I also owned a Honda Fireblade sports bike (currently between bikes) and am itching to get back on a bike (can anyone say "withdrawals").

Am I the only one with this addiction?  I think not.  Speak up now please.

First scooter was a '56 BSA 500 popper, traded it for a Norton 650 Commander.  After a stint with Uncle Sam I had a series of rice burners
Just this weekend I ordered a brand new Royal Enfield.  Ok Ok not a lot of speed here but I surely do love to ride.

I just dont get any kind of rush watching OTHER people racing. I much rather be inside.

Once in a while I take the vette to the speedway for some fast fun, its a great rush. I also love racing in 4-Tracks in abandoned construction sites and dry rivers.

I like driving a non-descript car.  I think you get away with a lot more in a car that looks like you're on the way to a soccer game, than something like a 'Vette or a Beemer.  Not that I would mind a 540 or anything like that, but I hate being a target.

In my dark colored '92 Diamante, I just try to blend in with the other traffic.  It just doesn't seem to stand out as much as a red corvette doing 87mph on the highway.

. Never did get that fixed. Just got use to it. I use it for a drunk test now. If a guy notice's it. He needs another beer.

Wanna go fast????? Learn to fly. Speeding around on the surface, outside of a controlled race environment is not only dangerous but simply stupid. There are others who do not need to be endangered by your "addiction". Visit the impound yard for your local law enforcement agency to see the results of this. Two young men were just sentenced to prison here in Arizona for it. They will be out in 1 and 4 years respectively. Their impromptu race resulted in a sentence of death for their victim who was driving on the same road. He will remain dead.

PS. having said that, I have been over 140 MPH on 4 wheels, 125MPH on 2 wheels and over 180MPH in my plane. The surface speed was after training and in performance of duty. I wouldn't call it particularly fun. The plane IS a blast however.

Couldn't agree with you more.  On a bike, however, the thrill of speed comes from riding through corners rather than going as fast as you can in a straight line.  You can get a great speed rush without endangering yourself or others.  The temptation to speed is pretty great I admit, though for that there are track days at the local racing circuits.

Oh and btw, I do fly aircraft as well  .

Wlfsbane,

The problem isn't only the speed. It's the unpredictability of the traffic, of all types, on the road as you are getting your "rush". The bike endanger more than yourself. Yep I drove them professionally and still have one now. My driving was in heavy traffic for enforcement purposes. VERY stimulating at times.
