Bomber gunners (perked?)
« on: August 08, 2005, 07:09:38 PM »
I'd like to see the option for bomber gunners.

Perhaps a perked set, 10 for a crew of average ability, 20= good,  50 for a superior crew.

Some kind of AI chatter as the gunners alert the driver to the location(s) of E fighters.

Of course reward the flight commander for returning as many crew as possible, maybe a crew upgrade.. an average crew promotes to good for the next bombing run.

and how about we use perk points to decide how good a fighter pilot is,
10 - average
20 - good
50 - excellent
100 - can't touch this

I'd like to see the buff guns more realistically modeled complete with recoil instead of the nice smooth steady platform they currently have to fire their lazer beams.

I would like to see WEP in fighters modelled correctly.

WEP as I understand it is limited and does not regenerate.

From what I have read here the LALA used NO2 for its WEP and therefore has a limit.

And while were at it why don't we remove the combat trim.....

But HT needs to either make the norden like it was (i.e. no easy calibrating) or give us buff pilots the option to use it the old way for a perk bonus :)

The AI Guns I dont like, but AI chatter telling you of threats is good, somthing like "Bandits at 7 O'Clock Hi"....

But then you would have to remove the external option, cause the only reason we have that is to simulate the fact that Buff's had so many people on the look out...

Don't mind me dedalos,
My comments were directed at DREDIOCK's laser beams remark.
Not having a shot at you either Dred
But IMO BUFF guns are not laser beams and I think that ppl don't realise that there are A LOT of concessions made for all the aircraft in this game.

Combat trim is not realistic, neither is unlimited WEP and IIRC most aircraft could not maintain max MIL power without their engines overheating. Again IIRC auto retracting Flaps are another concession that has been made.

NOW BEFORE THE TOOL SHEDING FLAMES START
I don't condone Dive bombing in BUFFS, I want the norden back like it was and I think you should only be able to drop ORD from the F6 positions.

and only the gun you are in shoots instead of all 21 in the box. :lol

as it is, if you can't kill 3-5 planes each run in a bomber, you need to practice ALOT.

i havent flown a buff in months, and when i do it is normally a ju88 to kill a CV with torpedos so i die.

last sortie in a b17 i got 8 kills before i died.

in a b26 on the deck upping a capped field, i ackstared and got 6 kills ROFL.

if you can not get kills in a bomber, practice practice practice, AND ask for help from the bombers you see landing kills.

The only referance I have ever seen to 2 mins was   recounted by Czech pilots flying the La5 FN.

Also FYI elevator and ailerons on the La7 were actuated thru tubular (rod linkages) rudder was actuated via cable linkages.

straffo My information on the LA7 may have been wrong, I got it from here
http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=154833
I searched on the net for WEP but could not find any real info.

But some planes used water injection to produce more power, I think the P 38 is one example and it makes sense to me that a plane using water injection is going to have a limited amount of water onboard....

EDIT
BTW from your link I see that 2500 RPM is 10 minutes maximum per flight
ALSO I didn't say 2 minutes I said NO2 (Nitrous Oxide)

Same goes for the fighters though.  If you can't kill buffs, you need to practice attacking them.  Unless you are after Tater or 999.  You may as well bail when you meet them.

In a private email from HT he admited that those twi guys are actually drones controlled by the HT servers.  Its a test for the TOD drones, but don't tell anyone I said anything about that.
