A question for HTC
« on: August 10, 2005, 08:10:03 AM »
This is partly a question to HTC to see if Im out of line with suggesting such a thing, and to the players as well.

I was trying to think up some sort of monthly event, that was sort of a gambling idea. It would deal with perks. What we would do is form a gentleman's club, by those that wish to partake. A simple list really. Each month a match would take place between 2 teams from the MA. ROOKS/BISH, BISH/KNITS, KNITS/ROOKS. Example: September, the Rooks and Bish go at it, while the Knights sit out.October the Bish and Knits fight while the Rooks sit out and so on. Each month we could goto the DA, on a certain day, and hold 3 matches. The first match would be early war, the second mid, the last late war. The cost of entering the competition would be a good faith deposit of the cost of a 262 in the MA (average).

We would play the first match. I would record all the kills that were landed. The guy who lives and lands the most kills leads the match. We continue with this until match 3 is played out.

The winner is the guy who landed the most kills in the combined matches. He didnt only win for himself, but for his team. The Losing team now must pay up. On a given day they must show up at an assigned base on the runway, in the MA in a 262, and the winner vulches them to harvest his winnings one time. Its up to him to RTB, and those that were vulched are not allowed to go after him. He can use whatever plane he wants to vulch in.

My opinion is since you earned it in a competition, it takes some of the sting out of it. Plus it puts something on the line, and that always adds a bit more passion to anything. Finally its only once a month, only 12 guys will win in a whole year, and odds are they will most likely be 12 different guys.

Now...the question is, would that be exceptable to HTC? If not I understand, it was just an idea I had for something different to try.

Im willing to run it, if its ok to try. If not just say so.

One thing - you wager the cost of a 262, but can only win 10-20 perks max?

Actually Im not sure on the scoring..perhaps a 262 cost is too great a wager for a payoff. But if there were 30 guys on the losing team, and all 30 were sitting there for you to collect, and you took a p40 E or something like that and killed them, Id imagine the payoff would be pretty high. Id have to figure the best cost according to attendance.  Maybe a Tempest would be a better bet.

You could have a competition in the MA a couple of times a month with HTC's help. Have all three countries set to 8-12 airfeilds apeice capturable to reset the map.

The goal is all out capture and map reset the most times in a given period. Whoever captures the 8-12 airfeilds of one country resets the map and gets the reset perks and bragging rights. Leave all destroyable objects and resources destroyable to deny their strategic use including the HQ as usual. Let players up from any base or CV as usual. It just takes the capture of 8-12 random bases around the map from each country to get the reset.

Annouce this ahead of time so squads can plan joint operations and lone players won't be surprised. Have a popup message when entering the MA that it is in progress. Let it run for 24 hours straight. Or put it in the MA2 as an alternate to the current MA game play process.

I'm just thinking keeping things simple and a fast turn around for the time investment. The smaller number of feilds to reset have the potential to generate more action from a large number of players because of the possiblilty of winning the war in a 2-3 hour period each time they logon to play.

Hey ! It's taken me 3  months to arrive at the princely sum of 320 fighter points lol, good idea, but I couldn't really afford it.
Maybe have it based on rank/skill set with a cost to match? (that's my way of asking for a cheap deal for me :))
