New Green Day Video
« on: August 11, 2005, 08:22:27 PM »
I'm watchin' (jesious, I almost typed 'MTV') CNN, and Paula Zahn has this huge profile on the Simpson sisters, repleat with rumours that Jessica had an affair with Johnny Knox on the set of the Dukes of Hazzard.

During prime time. News.

Is it just me?

Meanwhile, Green Day released the video to their latest single "(Wake Me Up) When September Ends."

Watch it.
(link in upper right)

CNN and the Simpson sisters. Or this. I wouldn't call it two worlds colliding as much one world spinning wildly out of orbit while the other, as if composed of some kind of long-twisted memory metal suddenly snapping back into shape.

You don't get it Eagler.

Whether or not you think it "passes for music" is irrelevant.

Er... unless there's some unbeknownst to us evidence why you - Eagler -  are someone to be taken seriously when it comes to music.

Tell me if I'm wrong, but I imagine you keep a vigil over your treasured recored collection (yes, vinyl) lest your wife disturb the squeaky-tight alphabetical order of it by placing Boston between Patsy Cline and Frank Sinatra.

In other words, who should give a flying **** what you think "passes as music these days"?

lol lol lol away and away and away and away and away and away but away it will not go.

The video wasn't made for you and it wasn't made for me. It was made for our sons and our daughters; and the last time I checked - they couldn't give a rats arse what WE thought about their musical tastes.

Interesting video, I will not be surpised if this video and song ends up being a big hit in the States...

However it's sad they are capitalizing on the situation...  I would perfer they donate the money they make from this song to the wounded veterans in this conflict...

That's one take.

Donate the profits to, I dunno, fund artificial limbs.

The other is to (and in the recording biz - it all comes out of the band's record sales) blow the bank. They paid (easily) a quarter of a million dollars for that vid. They coulda spent a quarter of that for some schmalzty video and spent the rest on hookers and blow.

Look it.

Who watches MTV? 18-25.

Who does this video target? 18-25.

Who does the military recruit? 18-25.

Ya know, if ya did the math.... this video vs. artificial limbs may end up being a bargain.
All at Green Day's personal expense. They should be given the damned medal of Freedom.

FWIW, Billy Joe Armstrong is 33.

It's not punk (if it ever was), but I think he is getting better with age.

Do I score any points if I freely admit that I had to do some googling to figure out who the hell "Go West" is?

I'll also freely admit and forfeit a few points because some of the songs sounded familiar.... but I consider myself a victim. ;)
