It's a no-win situation and I think HTC has made the right decision.

Games like Natural Selection have special coding to prevent gamma cheating. It works.

OK Truekill. Make it middle to late war then. But yet it was on the edge. It was the beginning of plane based radar. Still rather primitive. It's only after WW2 that plane based radar was developped to a "usable state".

Great idea!

Then the majority of folks that think "night" is foolish in what is basically a "Day VFR Fighter" game will no longer adjust their gamma setting and keep playing.

Instead, they will adust their "exit" button and log off. And, if the idiotic system that kept bringing on the night during US Prime Time is used again, they may adjust the "delete account" option under Admin.

But hey... at least a very small minority of players will get to pretend it was normal to fly day VFR fighters in combat at night.

Only one talking about radar is you. Im talking about night time.
Theres no such thing as plane based dar in AH. and about the night time raids in WW2 i forgot about german night raids on england in 1941. so thats 41-45 4 outa the 6 years of the war thats alot of it. we now have what 5-6hours daylight 1-2hours dusk/dawn what will 30mins of night time hurt? IMO flying in the dark makes things just that much better. and for the ppl whineing "waaa i cant see when its night it ruins the game for me" 30mins of night wont make you quit the game and if it does then that just stupid and see ya.

I have  no problem with night if the following conditions are met:

1. No icons at all.

2. Realistic ground based radar and command systems.

3. Realistically modelled on board radars and human radar operators who join your flight like gunners do currently.

If we could equip our planes with radar it would sound better to have night time but with no radar its kinda pointless.  I think most people would be less likely to turn up their gamma if they can equip their planes with radar.

Hopefully when TOD gets going, HTC will see fit to remove the dusk/dawn periods as well...

Navcad, I said that.

"everyone else" means the majority who play in the MA.  I base this evaluation on the numerous other threads which have appeared on this topic, and on HTC's response to this issue.

Suggest you do a string search for "night".

So am I. My point was: WW2 air war was typically fought on day. Because technology for night air war wasn't advanced. Take my radar statement as a sidenote.

Btw: SELECTOR has a good solution:

Totally Agree,......

With the return of night time that is.
I have been gone for far too long, though some would argue not long enough.  I desperately wanted the return of night and still do.  It is refreshing to me to see others whoom cry out for the retun of night.

I accept your point that interception wasn't as advanced; but niether was flight.

The first raids over London were in WWI without radar.

However; the buffs were so sucky (by MA standards) that you could hear 'em coming as a pedestrian and call the RAF and tell 'em where to look (which is about what happened).

Likewise; WWII radar was patchy; but so was WWII concealment. If you've ever been to a night time drag meet you'll know what I mean; you can see those engines for miles.

My point is; WWII was fought 24/7; that's what total war means.

It could be you haven't seen a night sim you like; that doesn't mean the night war wasn't there.

Dakota tribal wisdom says that when you discover you are riding a dead horse, the best strategy is to dismount. However, in business we often try other strategies with dead horses, including the following:

1. Buying a stronger whip.
2. Changing riders.
3. Say things like, "This is the way we have always ridden this horse."
4. Appointing a committee to study the horse.
5. Arranging to visit other sites to see how they ride dead horses.
6. Increasing the standards to ride dead horses.
7. Appointing a tiger team to revive the dead horse.
8. Creating a training session to increase our riding ability.
9. Comparing the state of dead horses in todays environment.
10. Change the requirements declaring that "This horse is not dead."
11. Hire contractors to ride the dead horse.
12. Harnessing several dead horses together for increased speed.
13. Declaring that "No horse is too dead to beat."
14. Providing additional funding to increase the horse's performance.
15. Do a Cost Analysis study to see if contractors can ride it cheaper.
16. Purchase a product to make dead horses run faster.
17. Declare the horse is "better, faster and cheaper" dead.
18. Form a quality circle to find uses for dead horses.
19. Revisit the performance requirements for horses.
20. Say this horse was procured with cost as an independent variable.
21. Promote the dead horse to a supervisory position.

Maybe I missed it IN the now CLOSED thread... but I'm pretty sure HT said no already (at least once) ;)
