Fresh boiled peanuts are great with beer.  Served up hot from the crock pot, or cold after refrigeration, both methods are good.

You know you're in the South if you ever see boiled peanuts at the bar.  They're very popular in these parts.

Vobla - dry salted river fish. Or shrimps.

Damn, my Cousin lived at my flat for 3 weeks, and he managed to pour water into a plastic box with vobla in my fridge... Took me 3 days to figure out who died in a fridge, I was seriously looking for a mouse that hanged itself ;) (Russian expession: "a mouse hanged in a refrigirator" [v holodil'nike mysh povesilas'], means total absence of food).

I don't know any other nation except Russians/Ukrainians/Belorussians who drink beer with vobla. It's a great pleasure to take a fish, knock it against a table and tear it apart :) A real beer party ;)

I was waiting for someone to say dry/smoked fish. That is the best zakuska. Also dry terriaky style meat is great. I like to eat boiled eggs and dilled pickles / tomatoes with dry fish. Soo good.

In Romanian, zakuska is a red-pepper-eggplant spread eaten on bread.

The best beer food is, and always will be, Buffalo style chicken wings.

Regular is hot and spicy.

I prefer hot. If you need a recipe just ask.

Russian, even don't think about that!

Start with mild.

Zakuska: chicken wings, dry or smoked fish, raw salmon, river crawfish,   shrimps, cheese, red caviar (prefer black but you know... I am not BG yet).

One of the Zakuska's is black bread and I guess tuna/mayonesee mixture, with onion or radish..

Not too bad if your drunk, but when your sober..
