Idaho Warbirds....
« on: August 16, 2005, 11:53:44 AM »
I was out running around this weekend and seen the local P-40's out flying. I see them up all the time, but went by to check it out anyway.

I had my camera with me, so I was thinking that I would show you guys that we have other things in Idaho besides.... potato's.

The B-25 isn't a local bird, all the others are...

I'm originally from Pocatello....

If I remember right the airport out there was used during world war II,  I think they had bomber crews train there... not sure though...

I also remember a rumor about an old b17 plane reck that was around the American Reservoir....

Hi

Boise was also a training base for B-17's....

And yes there are a number of Bombers in the mountains  north of Boise that if the know where to look you can hike into and still find.

Thanks for sharing CAV.
The B-25 was at our air show this year.
The f4f is cool I would realy like an opportunity to check that one a little more closely.

That C model Mustang is eventually going to be in the markings of Duane Beeson, 4th FG Ace, who flew "Boise Bee".  He's been working on that bird for a while.  Nice to see another razorback 51 getting close

Thanks for posting the pics :)

Pocatello was a B17,P39,P47 base.Large facility for manufacturing large Navy guns was also here.A fellow in American Falls has a P51D,called the Section 8.It's a very nice looking aircraft.A gent in Rexburg has Frank Bormanns old P63,and he owns Old Yeller,Hoovers old P51, as well.About ten years ago,I got a ride in a TBM,being flown by the Twin Falls Warbirds. What a thrill!Oh I live in Pocatello, but I'm not a native.
