Like they cant make it any other way.

Whats sad is I am sure Calisucka will pass its own version. Then it will take 12 weeks to get a doc apointment at kaiser instead of 4.

There's over the counter alternatives that don't have pseudoephedrine, so the $4 nyquil is still $4, and will still get the job done. Just opinion, but I doubt many people will even notice a difference.

It's harrassment of the innocents that they're now forced to use psuedoephedrine free Claritin-D or go get a perscription? I don't know if I could even classify that as harassment.. it seems.. well.. trivial.

Lost friends to crystal and seen it destroy quite a few lives. They probably would have broken down regardless, but the ease of obtaining such a powerful, domestically brewed drug made the process alot faster and definately made them more dangerous to themselves and others (you know, the "innocents").

sure there are alternatives but they don't work like pseudoephedrine which is why they all use it. Maybe something else eventually will work as well but its not there yet. This provides a minimal hinderance to the druggies who will get it through other means while causing excessive and extreme burden on the rest of the society. In short, it won't do what it was intended to do while punishing those who have nothing to do with the problem.

Before you go blaming Oregon for everything, take a look at a Texas. Gov. Rick Perry (R) spearheaded a law that removed ALL cold medicines containing pseudoephedrine from grocery store shelves unless the following conditions were met:

a) customers must show a Texas Driver License

b) stores selling medicine containing pseudoephedrine must keep a log with the name, address and phone number of persons purchasing such medicines. Logs must be kept on file for 2 years.

c) customers may purchase no more than 2 packages or 6 grams .

This just shows how kneejerk reactionary the law is. If meth use is "untreatable" as Rep. Berman (R) says, why are there state run treatment centers?

I'm also concerned that any employee of the store now has access to my personal information for the next two years because I got a cold. Our store decided it was not worth the hassle and stopped selling all the affected products. Thank you Republicans for making my life easier.

Actually, the meth capitol is......Missouri. More meth is produced there than anywhere else in the US.

I don't live in oregon ... I can pump my own gas... don't need a dr to assist me with suicide and don't care about marijuana (medical or otherwise) and.. it has lousy weather..

I don't do meth..

I don't get colds.

Still... this is just another dumb law... You want strong "caring" government... you will get em "caring" about everything you do.

Heh, the really sad part of all this is that everything above was already the law in Oregon...they passed it about 6-8 months ago.

Also, as far as I know, there is no Nyquil alternative containing the other Psuedoefedrin.

Oh, incidently, this wasn't a federally-mandated law, it was a state law by choice. If you don't like it, vote 'em out, SOB.

Yeah, no kidding. Unfortunately, it's hard to vote out state senators who are in a different district.
