Thats exactly what happend in NZ.

The supply of pseudoephedrine dried up due to the restrictions on buying meds containing it, which put most of the small labs out of business. Supply and demand rulz, and by this time there was plenty of demand for meth. The gangs took up the slack, and at first they started smuggling  pseudoephedrine into the country in bulk but then they found it less of a hassle and more profitable to import meth direct from Asia. Border control gets some but because of the even bigger demand for meth now.. plenty of it still gets through.

excel... I don't get colds and and don't use meth.. the law does not affect me.  That does not mean that I want more government in my life.

unlike skyprancer... I don't just espouse the causes that directly affect me.  I really believe that every time government get's control of any segment of the population it affects me... even if not directly.

Lazs,

I wasn't serious with my last post. I was just being a smart arse, it's a kiwi trait.

My attitude to government interference in peoples lives is the same as yours. It wasn't allways so, but at the moment we have one of the most intrusive forms of government in the western world, and they are masters of the tactic of seperating a section of the population off in order to marginalize it without raising too much concern from the majority of the population. It's peice-meal, but over time it has a profound detrimemtal effect. The good news is that people have cottoned on to it and change may be in the wind, but I'm not holding my breathe.
