Hmmm.  Everything I've seen said it was just the left gear door.  Do you remember where you saw the info on the right?

It clearly had Kidd on the left before it got the Malcom hood.  This photo shows it during that time.  The pre-Malcom hood canopy is still on.

But the photo from the right side when it's apparently getting the Malcom hood does not show anything but the black ID stripe on the right.

Question does the plane have the "nose art" on both left and right?? Are kill markings on both left and right?

OK made some progress.

Still a few things to do.

Latest fixes

*Id lines added on wings and elevators.
*"Kidd" added.
*Olive dab adjusted.
*Red nose color moved.
*Kill markings adjusted so that train and ships are included.
*Right side nose art, kill markings removed and QPL corrected.
*Plane lines adjusted to work better with mix of metal and color.

Still left to do.

*Weathering
*Remove olive dab from engine exhausts
*Fix missed things.

Bugs found in model.
*Wheels cant be made white. The currently grey wheels are actually 100% bright white in the texture. (see pic)
*Wheel door is wrong shape. Look at the pics in this thread and note how the wheel house covers part of the wheel. Which it doesnt do in the AH model. (see pic)

Question for Dan.

The line over "Kidd" is it part of the id line or is it "outside" the id line? I think it is so that the area "clean area" between "Kidd" and the line is actually erased id line. What you think? (see pic)

Heya tex sorry but I don't think the metal looks real. Looks like you added noise and blurred it. Maybe fade the black a little.

Yeah its a noice effect Ive been workin at which actually does look interesting but is hurting from the "blur" added by the JPG compression.

Its still not tuned though.

Tex,

Why does your wheel door look different than mine?  Yours is too short, while mine is longer, but with a transparent area at the bottom rear (see http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=158635.  Almost as it the whole bottom half of your door is transparent.

Also, I am able to achieve white on my tires (which in turn shows through the rear of my wheel door...).  Could you have forgotten to adjust transparency?

HA!!

Just realized something.... shock absorbers are compressed when landed... takeoff and the shock absorbers are decompressed and hence the wheel moves... you can even see this when you take droptanks and drop them on the runway...

Amazing how much detail there is in the new models.

I've got a decal scan with some basic info for an RAF scheme with a shark's mouth under the chin. I don't think I'll ever get around to making it, if anybody's interested e-mail/pm me.

Ah we already got a RAF Mustang.

Anyway back to the topic.  What happened to Kid Hofner's P-51B Salem Representative?

Finally done and submitted...

Not happy with it but well well... making a mixed metal and paint skin is virtually impossible as the material applies to everything...
