Reminder to be cool
« on: August 18, 2005, 07:54:55 AM »
A new guy started playing tonight. He used to play AW, and decided to try AH. First night out of the box, just got him setup to go, about the 3rd flight, he apparantly flew into a fight that another player was in, and exited. The other player was very upset, and started in on my bud. My bud was like "WTF? Who is that guy?"  Just remember that new guys have no clue to ediquette in here, most old guys dont for that matter. But dont go chasing them out the door on their first night, because your panties got all run up yer butt.

Was this in the MA? He flew into a fight and exited? What do you mean exactly?

But I have to agree.... Instead of shouting and yelling at someone, try explaining what you feel was wrong. Most likely the indivdual dosent realize he did something against the norm.

Wait a minute, someone got mad because some other friendly flew into thier fight? You mean your allowed to get PO'd when someone does this? Well watermelon ferr and call me Rufus!

Seeing as how my gunnery ain't all that great I will usually try and get the bad guy into the best guns solution prior to shooting. I can't tell you how many times I get him right where I want him and another Bish comes screaming in and kills my now low and slow bad guy before I get the chance. Dead bad guy is a good thing is it not? Well, that's the way I look at it. If you were awarded assists without firing a shot I'd have thousands. I know my squadies just love flying with me as they get lots of kills at my expense.

My advice regarding bringing new players into the game is:

1. Tune them off of 200. Explain that it's the Romper Room channel and they can tune to it later if they like once they've gotten integrated into the game community. (I do not nor ever will tune to 200)

2. Explain that there are a lot of great players in this game but there are those who are, well, buttheads! You take them for what they are and realise that they are best left ignored.

3. Show them the .squelch command. That way if someone does get under their skin they can just .squelch them.

Gotta agree with Filth there, lighten up for crisesake! It is, just game, you know. Killstealing, killshooter, HOs and colliders, they are all just part of the game we love.

Nomde says since I joined the squad the absolut best way to get kills is to just follow me around. I can find, set em up and chase em around, but I'll be derned if I can bring home the bacon. So Nomde just shoots over my shoulder and lands 5 or 6 kills.

If your freind flies Rooks just tell him to look for me. Everyone gets kills around me.............:D

LOL...as another OLD AWer that just started here, tell yer bud this is nothing he shouldn't have seen dozens of times in AW :)
Political correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Thinking back in AW I dont remember alot of guys who acted that way. Yes there was only half the total number of players in the game, but very few stand out. Even some of the guys in here now, that seem to have gotten a little more brazen, werent like that back then.

I think a few things contribute to it in here. AW seemed like an older crowd for one. Probably more young ones have a pc and interent than back then. In here the headon shots allow easier cherry jobs, and those not only PO the enemy who dies, but the friendly who was about to get a 6 shot. And the way friendly fire works in here. If I recall, the friendly fire was applied to the the guy you shot.If you killed a friend twice within so many hours you were PNG. And unable to fly armed planes.  Theres something about shooting a guy and yourself dying that seems more like its the guy who got in the ways fault. As opposed to if you shoot and he dies, the shooter feels like he screwed up.

I think Filth another thing might be we were younger ourselves during AW so it seemed a lot milder. I know I was a teen when I started AW and can see a lot of simularities in what the teens of AH do and say. It's just now that I'm older it's not as funny and I find it more immature.

I do agree that a lot of younger kids have internet now which contributes also to the problem.
