I was the P47 in your AAR. I didn't recognize what area you were talking about until I remember looking back from climbing out and seeing 2 low flights of bombers. Imagine my glee when I saw they were B26s. Unfortunately, I wasn't quite prepared for buff runners that could actually gun.
Coincidentally enough, I had finally convinced my squad to make a flight down that way an hour or so before. At that point it seemed that a flight to 161 for a fighter sweep would be excellent, so seven of us upped in P47Ns from 126 I believe. On the flight there we could anticipate the coming melee. Throughout the flight, we would encounter coalt or slightly lower cons(Spits, 190s, N1Ks the usuals), with a Tempest in the area as well. The fight over 161 brought us from 16k down to 8k and back up until finally we decided we needed to head you guys off at 175.
At that precise moment, a F4U4 came blazing in and gave us a run for our money. Nomde and I broke off to pursue and he was soon joined by another F4U-1D. We went back and forth with these guys for atleast 10 mins, until finally we arrived over 175. The Bishops must have been slobbering like all get out at the sight of 2 P47Ns planted at 10k over their base. We scored a few kills and then decided to call it quits and rendezvous with the rest of the squad. I dont think we ever did find out who the F4U4 and F4U1d were. As you can imagine, we were draggin the whole damn airforce behind us back towards 161, with alot of them coalt. Unfortunately, a 109G10 is apparently faster than the P47N so I ended up getting HOed when turning to face him. A bitter end to a sweet flight, but a sweet flight nonetheless.

Red: Where are ya these days?
Flayed you probably missed me because I climbed out on auto-takeoff probably before you arrived at the base. When I came back from AFK you were 5k below me and out behind.
