No news is REALLY bad news...
« on: August 20, 2005, 02:07:18 PM »
Nothing posted in the News section since July 22nd!?!

Ugh!

Pyro, PLEASE post something new and interesting soon.  Preferrably, something re: the development of the B-29 B-29 B-29 and the B-29.

:)

Or, how about Aces High - Vietnam? (No...seriously)

Thank you,
TBolt

Pyro was working on the B29, but his monitor was too smalll so he never got the wings done right and it never had the lift to take off.

If you buy him a widescreen monitor he may get things right.

I'll post the adress in a minute

Dev Update 8/09/05
Tour of Duty development has been the almost exclusive focus of our programming resources for the past few months. Recent ToD development has caused HiTech to rethink some design issues with the existing graphics engine in an effort to get more detail into the game without a performance hit. He came up with some new optimizations and a restructure of the shape library to achieve a very significant improvement to graphics performance. It's been undergoing successful in-house testing and it's exciting enough to us that we've moved it up to a priority item. It's an unexpected detour for us but we've decided to pursue this development and get it released at the earliest possible time. Our plan now is to finish the implementation of this and get it released as a test version to insure that we don't have any problems with the multitude of hardware and software configurations in use. Once we are satisfied with the test, this will be released as version 2.05. Because of the accelerated schedule we are pushing for this, we don't anticipate that 2.05 will contain any other development aside from minor fixes.

What we had originally planned for 2.05, albeit not this early, was reworked Spitfires and Messerschmitt 109's. That work is ongoing but will now be released in Version 2.06 because of the early release of 2.05. We will be changing and adding to the variant lineups of both the Spits and 109s.

We are currently working on a ToD section for our website and plan to have that launched by the end of the week. It will provide an overview and description of ToD. A new ToD forum on the message boards will soon follow for further discussion about ToD.

This new graphics doohickey with greater performance sounds promising!  :aok

I got my widescreen this week  :D ....its great for immersion, although I wouldhave liked a little better response time in the blue chanel...its still very nice...and cheap.  Ive still got my 19" sony standard if I need it, but with my new 26" widescreen LCD, Ive eliminated my 27" tube TV and consolidated my Xbox over to my computer area.

Perhaps it would be wise to make a little post in the news forum announcing your move to the website. I guess many ppl link directly to the bbs and don't even read the website regularly. Never was a reason to do so until now.

Well, i'm not sure why you're rolling your eyes.  But, Korea has been done.  Many of us flew Sabres vs Migs for years in AW.  If you missed out...I'm sorry.  Write your complaint to Electronic Arts.

Back in the AW days, I first mentioned Air Warrior - Vietnam on the old BBS and got trashed for it in the beginning.  Over a few months though, people started to warm up to the idea--although, not everyone.  After a while, Kesmai released some screenshots of Vietnam-era aircraft.   The game was in production until EA came in and killed everything we loved.

I truly have every bit of faith in Hitechcreations to put together a very enjoyable air combat sim set in the Vietnam era.

Korea was jets with cannons.  Okay...fun.  But, been there; done that.    Vietnam - controversial as it may be for some - is the new frontier.  And, HTC has the balls to go there, i believe.  :)

Ok skuzzy, on the front page I find the last news is dated 8/12.  Maybe the word "now" does not mean what you think it means?

Inconceivable!
