Trying to install a new 250gig Maxtor SATA HD. # 6L250S0
Problem is about ½ my drive is used yet there is nothing on the drive but a fresh version of XP Pro. If I recall it was about 116 gigs used, but there is nothing there. This is after I installed XP on it.
I spent all night downloading the “mxblst4cd”. Dial up here. Anyway, directions say to unzip it onto your desk top. It was a single file “Mxblst4.iso” file. I am supposed to double click on that file and it will use my recording software to make a bootable CD. When I double click on the .iso file it asks me what to open it with. I have no idea. So I just copied the “Mxblst4.iso” file onto a DVD, unzipped of course. I have my system set to boot to the CD, but it just ignores the .iso DVD and boots into Windows. It is because it is a DVD? I only have a DVD burner on my system. If I put in my XP Pro CD it will boot to that.
I also tried downloading the Mxblst4 for windows which is a much smaller file. When I try to use that (in Windows) it tells me the drive is already the correct size.
At a loss here.
