A bee sting?

Jesus...

What do you say to a guy when that happens? Speechless...

A guy who I work with and have become pretty good friends with had to fly back east to attend his sister's funeral.

It turns out....  It was just a regular weeknight. His sister and her husband were watching TV. The show broke to ads, and she got up off of the couch to get something from the kitchen.

She took one step, then collapsed onto the carpet, dead. She was 32.

The doctors surmise that she was probably dead before she even hit the ground. Massive strange explosive heart attack.

The last few days I have spent trying to block out that image from my mind. Yer sitting on the couch, average night, watching TV, yer wife gets up, and dies.

Or... You're watching yer kid jump through the sprinkler or whatever, gets stung by a bee, and dies.

Sox..... It is to a fault that these things hit me pretty hard, even though I have never even met the folks involved. Some things I just can't fathom, despite my mind's wont to loop it.

My sincere hope and prayer that Julie's story comes with a happy ending.

This is an ugly summer. Particularly.

In this case, I hope that whatever forces  that have made this summer such that it is, stop, reflect, and in Julie's case, relent.

I'm very sorry for you and your friend :(

As to Julie, it might be a decent idea to repost this with a different title...  I'm nowhere near the area but I'm sure those that are would definately do what they can to help find her...

Hope every thing works out :(

Dear Sox,

I'm sorry to hear about the storm that seems to breaking all around you. I'll be praying for Julie's parents in particular.

Has there been any action against Ledo's for allowing an underage student in? Seems to me that if that particular law had been observed that evening, this tragic abduction might have been averted.

I have no idea,I think prosecuting the bar is the last of their worries.

A friend of the family told me it appeared to witnesses that she was fine, then was staggering and "helped" out of the bar,and she was probably drugged.

Thats horrible.  As for the bee stings. I have asthma. Certain things can trigger it. Bees dont...atleast not the last time I was stung, but my problems started in my late 20s with allergies.

Most times my breathing gets hard, and it feels like you are running upstairs, breathing only through a straw. But I have had allergic reactions to things where my throat starts to feel itchy. Then it closes off. Thats the scariest feeling there is.

  Sorry for your friends.

Bee stings can be extremely dangerous to people who are hypersensitive to the venom.  The allergic reaction can progress to something called anaphylactic shock within minutes.  About the only way to get a handle on it is to jab an Epinephrine auto-injector into your thigh before the lights go out.  Some states allow EMTs to carry Epi-Pens on their ambulances, but in New Jersey we can only administer one if the patient already has one that's prescribed for them (although that law is changing).  Failing that, our only shot is to set up an intercept with the paramedics while en route to the hospital.

The bottom line is that if you or someone you care about has a history of severe allergic reactions (to bees, shellfish, peanuts or whatever), you need to have a talk with your physician about carrying an auto-injector.

Well,news,and it isn't good.

Julie's body has been found. The report doesn't state that it's hers, but it has since been confirmed. At least Vic now knows and will have some closure.

I only hope they catch the animal that did this.
