Any subscribers? I just started and so far it's okay. I had been on the Blockbuster monthly pass, but just got tired of looking for stuff.

We'll see how long this lasts.

Sister subscribed few monthes ago, after a good 4 or 5 monthes they stopped sending movies for some reason after we had them all returned.  She actually signed up for the Blockbuster one and Netflix, both turned out to be the same or something.  I found it was neat to find a movie in there a day or two after returning a movie but they just wouldn't deliver.  Might have been an isolated incident though.

Started out with Netflix, changed to Blockbuster and then after 3 months went back to Netflix.

If I return my three movies on Monday I have never had a problem getting movies from my que by Fri, which gives me enough time to watch those three and mail again the following Mon.

I also found that Netflix had a much larger variety of movies to choose from. In addition, it seems that the database they use to track my ratings and make suggestions if pretty darn good.

Overall rating...I more than get my monies worth with Netflix. I've only had one movie in the 2 years I have subscribed that I had to return due to an unreadable disc, outstanding delivery service for me, and excellent selection on the unusual movie selections I make.

Been with Netflix since inception, and a stock holder too.  No complaints on either the service or the stock. :)

Been in a long time and really love it. (Dont own stock tho...) We get 2-3 day turn around, from mailbox to mailbox. They have tremendous catalogue of old movies and classics, which we love -- and we've gotten into using DVDs for several series, so we can watch commercial free at convenience. It's a real plus for shows with continuing story line, to avoid msised episodes and accidental disclosure....

The freedom from the video store is best part, tho. Incredibly convenient.

Not necessarily in that order.

The best feature of Netflix is being able to save new (to cinema) releases to your queue so you don't have to remember whether a movie was something you wanted to see or not.

My selection list hovers around 100 choices. When I find something new, I tack it on -- and when mood requires, i kick whatever strikes me up to the top.

Did I mention o late fees?

And (for example) all 3 of the Kirasaw Samarai movies available in order wiht no wait? And that if you wnat it to, the software watches your rankings and makes suggestions based on prefernces of people who liked the same stuff you do?

I've had Netflix for one year... they allow you so many DVDs to be 'lost' in the mail during your subscription, so don't worry about the almightly USPS losing DVDs. Tho, I've never had a DVD lost on me...

Generally, (unless its some obscure title) I get all my movies the next day, if it is some European documentory I will receive it the day after. Definitely better than Blockbuster..

Been with em for about 8 months now.  Overall, not bad

Sometimes it takes them several days to receive/record my movies are in (one day shipping to them).  They go thru spells where once they get em, they ship next ones on the que same day.  It was pretty cool to have that kind of zippy turn around.

Lately its been slow again, but if you report the disc as not arriving yet (lost) they zing out the next ones ASAP.

Hi Sandman,

I too am a Netflixer. The service saved me from bankruptcy when it came out, as it was not unusually for me to put a blockbuster vid in my car meaning to take it back and not get around to it for a couple of months. We have paid late fees that were 2 or 3 times the price of the movie if bought new. So I jumped on the Netflix bandwagon. It was especially helpful because I like foreign films (heck, what good is a movie you can't read) and have pretty ecclectic movie tastes and our local Blockbuster mostly had New Releases and/or the Police Academy series. The turnaround is now excellent, 2 to 3 days in most cases, and the primary problem is just my forgetting to put them back in the mail.

BTW - Simaril, I'm a huge Akiro Kurosawa fan as well, with RAN being one of my favorite movies of all time. Ever see the Mushasi series (also stars Toshiro Mifune) directed by Inagaki? Not quite as good as Kurosawa's works but still excellent.

I'll check it out -- thanks for the tips. havent seen RAN, mostly because my daughter (who was my samurai buddy for the series) got burned out on the genre. Seems the plight of poor Oto (?), Mushasi's intended, got under the skin of her burgeoning maternal instinct -- she said "I'm not a radical feminist or anything, but that woman has been left behind more times for more years than yada yada yada yada YADA yada...." (teenagers are not known for their conciseness...)   :lol

Speaking of great, old, and often missed movies -- you seen The third Man with Welles? Has one of my favorite movie lines of all time...but I wont spoil it.
