Not normally one to vent but..
« on: August 26, 2005, 09:33:46 PM »
Now, I am admittedly not a map-maker. I know nothing about it.

Bearing that in mind, how hard can it be to go back when you're done with a map and  prune the trees back from the end of the runways some reasonable distance like 1 or 2k? Surely they had some guidline for this in our era of operation? Trees's must be cleared x number of miles or yards on all final approaches?

I'm just tired of smacking a tree one or two hundred yards off the end of a runway with a 5+kill sortie.

Rant off.

Post the terrain name, and the field in the bug forums.  Happy to take a look.  It is important to post the terrain it is happening on and the field number.  Thanks.

So... you have the skill and precision to manuever yourself into position to get 5+ kills per sorties, yet a stationary tree is what does you in? ;)

lol... I know what you mean, Sundiver. I make a conscious effort on my terrains to clear the approaches, but you can't always get all of them. But still... sometimes I just have to scratch my head. IRL there are trees at ends of some runways, and ultimately, a pilot is responsible for his aircraft.

Not the gardener. ;)

rather than a dozer, perhaps it's time for AH to create trees that can be removed by HE...sort of like real trees! :) No more hiding, Tank Dweebs!

Keep the trees. I can't get the hang of flaps & need something to slow me down on final.

A SAW probably won't take down a tree.  But a Bushmaster, or an M2HB probably would...

Geez, the runways aren't long enough? I've rarely seen anyone use more than half the runway to land....who says you need to use the first half? :D

LOL, now this I will give you. Just a booger when trying to land a shotup plane. Normally I take a much higher glide angle to begin with the Yaks can take a hard landing. Although I have run into trees more than once trying to lift Lancs off. Even with a 1/4 tank.
