Two words - "Fix Bayonets"

Too bad the bayonets are all black now...the sight of a nice shiny blade glinting in the sun and 15 soldiers carrying weapons with said blade attached should be more than enough to deter your average "opportunistic acquision specialist"

P.S. In most states theft during a natural disaster (looting) makes it a worse offense. In Pennsylvania at least it makes it a second degree felony. Let's see if they can even begin to enforce that.

Good catch.....but true!

Truth be told I have no problem with people taking food.  If they wanted to go the extra mile they'd leave an IOU or somthing witht here name and phone number.

There's even a report of people robin hooding it.  Taking it to pass out at centers and such.

What I do have a problem with is a bunch of guys breaking into a foot locker and taking a bunch of shoes or goin into jewlery stores.

If I was a pawn shop or a gun store owner I'd feel obligated to stay behind and stand watch out of personal responsibility.  Like I said we've seen this before though.

Scavenging for the basics of life (food, water, shelter) is not looting. Its surviving. People are running out of the basics down there.

Breaking into casinos, banks, businesses and peoples homes looking for valuables is looting.

According to CNN, one New Orleans officer has already been shot while confronting looters.

Rioting and civil disobedience is another matter entirely. If the looters are endangering public servants and people in general they should be dealt with by any means necessary.

So is chopping people's hands off, but like I said I prefer less Taliban like methods of punishment.

If it keeps the next dirtbag from stealing another 20 pairs and frees up an officer to go search & rescue?  Yeah.  But frankly, I don't think the death of someone who's first thought after this tragedy is to steal some new shoes is much of a loss.

38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:  39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.  40 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also.  41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.  42 Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.

43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? 47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? 48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
