Aircraft list
« on: August 31, 2005, 05:22:03 AM »
Does anyone have a list of which aircraft have been produced worldwide 1936-1945 in numbers?

What i mean is i would like to see the designation of all military aircraft that were build in numbers, say more than 1500.

Or, to put the question diffrent, which surviellence, fighter, attack, transport, bomber, rescue aircraft were build in significant numbers but are not yet in aces high?

Ahh good list, but by no means complete it seems.

Yes im looking for something like that.... based on that list i guess my cut off point would be 4500.

What aircraft is there first on the list? U 2 / Po2, why dont we have it in ah2?

The U-2 is a light, small bi-plane (actually a basic trainer). The Russians used it for night bombing on nuisance raids, also with female pilots. The cut the engine and glided towards their targets, e.g. campfires.

That list doesn't even begin to approach completion.

Il-2?  Not there - ~40,000
Bf109?  Not there - ~35,000
Spitfire?  Not there - ~22,000
Fw190?  Not there - ~20,000

And countless others missing.

AFAIK some 600+ aircraft types were made for wartime use during WW2.
Well, obviously the list was completely INCOMPLETE, so let's use this thread to add something shall we ;)
out of nowhere:
Macchi 200: ca 1000
Martin Baltimore 1575
Short Sunderland 700+
Tante Ju's total 3500+

etc etc...
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

Ju is already in there, 4.845.

Missing C-47 though... but hard to give numbers i guess since it had civilian use before war.

IL-2
Bf109
Spitfire
Fw190
Betty
C47

They are already in AH

Angus, MC200, Baltimore and Ju52 are already on the list. I lefft the Sunderland out, since I figured I had to cut it somewhere (1000)

Oops.  My reading comprehension left something to be desired this morning.

The Kawanishi N1K1-J broke 1,000 IIRC, but that may be combining the N1K2-J and N1K1-J production.  They are significantly different aircraft.

Was there not a little plane called a p37 It think that the US sold to Finland? I read ( I thinksomewhere ) it was sporty little plane that was fun to fly... of course it would get eaten by the La7s of the game.

You're probably thinking of the Brewster Buffalo - F2A in USN terminology. Or maybe the Curtiss P-36 Hawk(a.k.a. H-75 as used by the French)?
