The way I understood it is that the beta will be open to all subscribers and trials. Maybe you mean the closed alpha?

Tour of Duty is progressively moving forward and it's our goal to begin closed alpha testing this month. This testing will focus on underlying components of TOD such as the AI or mission structure. When the various components are finished and put together, we'll progress to a beta that will be available to all subscribers and trial accounts. The purpose of the beta will be larger scale testing and play balancing. Once we're happy with those issues, we'll proceed forward with the official launch of the game.


Guess there may be a closed beta in between the two, but why?

Because I am guessing maybe some people from the community are brought in the closed beta. Just guessing though, that is why I asked.
