Here's To All the Compassionate Reporters Covering New Orleans...
« on: September 04, 2005, 08:29:41 AM »
...who couldn't find their butt with both hands.  The same kudos to the idiot senators who've been spouting off.  It's easy to tell they're idiots because their mouths are moving.

One fact that has become painfully obvious to anyone with an open mind during this crisis is that many of the reporters that have been flown in to cover it have ABSOLUTELY NO COMMON SENSE about how the real world operates AT ALL!

What's your favorite example of compassionate reporter idiocy?

Mine was aired this morning on the Weather Channel.  A senator accompanying George Stephanapoulous on a helicopter tour of the city was complaining about there being only ONE crame attempting to repair a breach in the levee and that that was TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!  Camera pans to view of levee out the copter window, showing scene of single crane atop a flooded levee, steep slopes on both sides of crane, water pouring through the breach.  The question pops into my mind, "Well, where could you possibly PUT another crane, you dolt!  In ten feet of water on the side of the levee?  Makes sense if the diesel engine would run under water, and the operator didn't mind wearing scuba gear.

I would probably freak out with all the reporters walking aboots like ducks in clean clothes, with a car loaded with fuel, water and food for them.. and making money out of the desperate people.

The opposite end of that spectrem is that they bring light upon dark shadows of desperate people, which tends to draw more money and volunteer work to the area.

I would have mixed feelings in that situation Fishu.
If reporters were filming around were I was, I would also see it as a way to get attention to my location so i could get help. Some are prolly happy to see the news crews if they have been isolated.

The reporters were probably lucky they didn't have a mob of people kill them for food and water...

I've said this about the local and state governments and I think its true of the reporters.  They did not convey, or understand the seriousness of the situation.   Compare the reporting monday through wednesday with thursday.. Reminds me of the first civil war battle (The Battle of 1st Manassas) where civilians went out to watch the battle and have a picnic..

Wondering just how much of a problem food and wter really was.
Water I can see.
But how much food was readily available. In peoples homes as well as in the grocery stores, resturants, convieniance stores ETC.

Yes some of it would have been bad from the flooding. meats breads and other things that come packaged in a way the flood water would have ruined it. But think about your local grocery store and how many things there are there that would be uneffected by water. Canned goods, unopened cerial, and any number of things packaged in airtight packages.

Even water. there is bottled water in stores,Bottled juice, and while not the ideal rehydrator, Soda.
Im thinking even with all the devistation. there was probably enough food to sustain those there for at least a week.

The people who got into trouble. are the ones that left their homes area and walked miles to these areas like that highway overpass Im thinking.
When all is said and done I wouldnt be surprised to find out that outside of the ones trapped in their attics, the ones that didnt make the walk. Have suffered the least amount of fatalities due to starvation or the most likely cause, dehydration.

Hehe! Yea, I loved the superficial drama queen act when he was interviewing the POed PD chief. The chief saying no buses had showed up as of yet and Noseboy going into the power to the people act and telling his anchorman  " Screw the governor, screw the feds. You are the man that can get it done. Your the one. Do it man. Get thoses buses in here" Then the anchorman spouting on it "We will have those buses rolling." Bozo and Ronnie Mcdonald in action. :)
